Says it all really. I would rather DCE than Hunt any old day. DCE as also won a comp and had Manly in the finals series more years than not.
DCE doesn't have excessive influence over the Manly coach, doesn't publicly try to influence management decisions and doesn't issue veiled threats based upon his perception of his own indispensability.
Also the thing about 100% board agreement is obviously a furphy blurted out by irresponsible media (zero substantiation). I strongly suspect the thing about Doust ruling the roost is also total BS. Hooper's article in which he gives his comparative assessments of a range of NRL managers was embarrassingly arrogant crap IMO.
The simple fact is that Hook has been a terrible coach and if Hunt, as the Captain, wants to make public statements implying he is part of a package deal, then he's a goose too.

Lebron, Ronaldo etc its all about themselves. This is a required quality about many of the world's best sports superstars as long as they back it up with performance - which they invariably do. Many here are infatuated that Hunt is on around 900K. Compare will DCE - same sort of players and same sort of ages yet DCE is on 200K more or even possibly more again.
If we had a track record of recruiting class players - sure bye bye Hunt but we don't. We are under resourced.
It worries me that we are just on another 3 year change of coach cycle. We have to fix the root of the Dragons problem. Being run by two factions and needing 100% agreement on key recruitment plus not having access to deep pocketed contacts is the problem. We are the South of mid 1970's to late 2000's. They were run by a rigid under resourced board until Russell arrived and bought his business acumen to their joint.
We can't wait till 2047 for our Red&White knight to arrive.
Hunt is no Lebron or Ronaldo he is just a top 10 half or Hooker nothing more nothing less.

We somehow find ways to elevate his status to that of a marquis team changing season defining player and he simply isn’t that player.

Would we worse without him possibly so although I’ve always found him polarising as no doubt do some of his team mates.

Will we win a comp with him or attract players who just want to play with him that’s sadly a no.

IMO some players and our team work would prosper without him and whilst we might go backwards initially I believe we can go further ahead without him under the present circumstances.

I can't believe people are seriously taking shots at Ben Hunt when the chips are down. Absolutely laughable. No more than two weeks ago he literally said he would move to 9 to assist junior development if that was what was best for the team. Hunt's mates with Griffin, of course he's gonna stick up for him, big deal, who cares. Does anyone honestly believe Hunt is going to leave if Griffin does? Of course not. Also, looking at context of the interview Hunt actually did he is literally implying he may not have time to restart everything again as he wants to win a comp. He's not saying what some are choosing to believe he's saying, which is that he's somehow holding the club to ransom if Hook goes. It's the same sort of media shit storm created as when Suli said he didn't want to come here initially. Completely out of context, not what he was saying at all. Seriously, the board is the biggest problem at this club, and the fact that people want to point fingers at Ben Hunt (who's been our biggest shining light by an absolute country mile over the last three years) and pretend he's the problem is so beyond a joke. Get a grip.

Turbo is made of glass, always injured. He’d be a waste of money.
Ravalawa, a winger, going into the backrow? Has he played much/any backrow?

Hunt is the club captain, so of course he is supporting the coach in public and within the team's operations.

It's called leadership, Hunt does not get to appoint coach or even have a say in their appointment. The CEO shortlists candidates and the board selects the coach not Hunt. His job is to lead the team on and off the field and that is about cohesion and loyalty to your mates. Saying anything other than positives about the coach is a path to disunity.

Criticise Hunt for his on field performance by all means, but a Club Captain that supports the Coach publicly is just doing his job properly and demonstrating leadership.

What about: 'No comment. It's not my job to select the coach or even to voice an opinion. If I have an opinion, I'll state it privately, where it belongs. Next question.'

He didn’t support, he made a thinly veiled threat. He wants Hook because he wants to play halfback.
