If that is all true, I'm already questioning the value of having Young on our staff. I for one was hoping he would bring some quality young players with him from the Cows. Still might happen I suppose but......not a good start.

I don’t understand why people are expecting DY to convince the better Cowboy players to go from there to us
He was only an assistant and he is no Ciraldo luring players from Penrith to Belmore
Maybe the players like the place, HC coach and culture up there more
It is not on DY’s shoulders
Maybe some up and comer good players Yes

Why not? Just go for everybody. The Dogs don't have a salary Crap. If they go for AFB and JL which would cost them around $2M+ a year, they would need to get rid of about 7-8 guys to pay for them and then they will say that they still had lots more Crap to buy a few more biggies.
I truly want that club to fail next year. Come on, be shit you Dogs.

Flanno has claimed that we have the salary cap space for him

Chammas also reported that we have offered Moses Suli a 3 year extension until 2027

He also stated that the club privately believe that Manu will stay at Sydney but wanna make a big offer to “ give him something to think about “

I believe that Blake would add the steel to the Dragon pack that has been missing for too many years now . In fact his worth to the team would be more that that of Joey Manu .

AFB played under Young in the juniors so it looks like Dean Young may lure a big fish if not from Nth Qld maybe NZ to the Dragons.

He may even bring back Big Luciano from the Cowboys as he has also played under Dean Young in the juniors @ Saints. If Saints get Luciano and AFB that will be a huge improvement in the forwards for 2024.

I think the Dogs will go hard for Luai as he won't be cheap. Surely they cannot afford both.

This will be the Flanno/Millard big test to get one over the Dogs. If they get this one, then we are in good hands when it comes to future recruitment.

It's all very tantalising stuff. Although I do, in a way, wish Flanno would just shut up. Been doing a lot of talking the last few months without delivering much on-field talent. But if he gets AFB I'll STFU ASAP and give him a BJ

I'll trust Flanno, but for mine that's too long. I would've thought we could save some money in our cap by letting Suli leave and playing Tamale/Feagai at centre from 2025 onwards. Three years means Tamale won't get a look in until 2028 and may have to leave for an opportunity. I understand defensively there's some question marks, but Suli is in the same boat. Really, I feel in the next few years we're going to have to sign two quality halves, one or two quality props, at least one second-rower and a hooker. Plus maybe a fullback and a winger. We could have a much better looking overall squad by letting Suli go for mine.

Sometimes the Assistants are the real brains behind a team's success and have the closest association with the players (eg Ben Hornby as attack coach at Souths). They are the ones who, like Ciraldo and Fitzgibbon when they moved to new clubs, attract players. Yes, Young is still an assistant at the Dragons unlike the previous two but he's had a couple of seasons at the Cows to show what he can do. The sad conclusion may be that he didn't make much of an impression.
