As soon as a player makes any excuses not to join such as travel or money then that should be the end of discussions. The club shows interest and has initial talks to see how the person's character is and enthusiasm to join. Then if they sense any knockbacks just walk away. The ex-Liverpool coach does that and he has built an amazing squad.

I would be saying goodbye to Gutho and JAC if they are stalling. Especially being unwanted at their clubs. Seems like they did this to RCG and Aladin so I am all for this type of approach. No need to be begging players to join the club as you will get low key effort.
Simply fixed Slippery
Make a genuine offer to Player A
Also stipulate an Expiry date of the Offer . Say 7-14 days ..
Offer off the table if no interest and or stalling after that time
You may lose some that you were chasing but you are showing that u mean business at the same time ..
Player managers will then realise that they cant dick us around like they are now...

Sounds like speculation it was only a few weeks back Bennett wanted to keep Illias.

PNG will never win one.
The idea of a competition is that everyone thinks that sooner or later they if they play their cards right they will have a chance at the brass ring. I wonder how the local PNGers will take to years of floggings and wooden spoons?

By the way, Port Moresby also has a new casino. It will be interesting to see how that adds to the mix.

In POM they’re better off in the casino than on the street.

Memo to PVL #2 - ring Cold Chisel's management (now) and schedule a few gigs in Vegas during the NRL week. Chisel are back better than ever and their show on Sat night under the big tent at Ent Qtr was awesome.
Chisel have unfinished business in the US where they were let down by a recalcitrant record label 40 years ago. They have established a whole new legion of fans over there via the You tube first time hearing series plus I reckon half the Aussies venturing to Vegas would attend.

We cannot talk to either player or at least offer a contract (more likley Gutho) till Nov 1 officially as both are under contract for 2025

So where did this "i dont want to travel "excuse come from ?
Probably his PM, media asking him a question and turning the answer to suit a narrative as he puts himself out to market to see what bites..or maybe himself..who knows, does not matter.
Of course as he tests the waters he would love a Sydney club to pick him up. He lives up the northern side. Much easier than relocating even if it is for more $$$$

No idea in my opinion, 2 players in the team that have been told they can go elsewhere for starters.

DRAGONS
Predicted team
: 1. Tyrell Sloan 2. Christian Tuipulotu 3. Valentine Holmes 4. Moses Suli 5. Mikaela Ravalawa 6. Kyle Flanagan 7. Ben Hunt 8. Francis Molo 9. Damien Cook 10. Jack de Belin 11. Luciano Leilua 12. Jaydn Su’A 13. Blake Lawrie 14. Jacob Liddle 15. Hame Sele 16. Raymond Faitala-Mariner 17. Ryan Couchman
Analysis: There are doubts around Tyrell Sloan’s position at fullback with the club reportedly chasing Clint Gutherson to fill the No.1 role, but until they do he will be the fullback. Another option is star recruit Valentine Holmes, but he will be needed in the centres. Zac Lomax departs for the Dragons, with Christian Tuipulotu and Mikaela Ravalawa likely to be the wing pairing. Holmes and Moses Suli are set to form a new centre pairing for the next three seasons after Jack Bird’s shift to the Tigers. Kyle Flanagan returns from suspension for biting at No.6 with Ben Hunt at No.7 unless he is successful in negotiating a release to join an NRL rival, after being linked to the Bulldogs and a return to Queensland. Francis Molo and Jack de Belin will start in the front row, with star recruit Damien Cook at hooker. The second row of Luciano Leilua and Jaydn Su’A picks itself with Blake Lawrie at lock. The bench utility will be Jacob Liddle after Cook’s arrival, with Hame Sele, Raymond Faitala-Mariner and Ryan Couchman rounding out the bench.
