Roosters won't be going anywhere near a comp next year, it's looking like they're tanking it like they did in 2016. The Walker and Smith injuries that keep them out for half a season have probably made them think they may as well use next year as an opportunity to clean house. All the high quality players for 2026 will be going to the roosters and they'll pretty quickly be right up near the top again. For next year though, they may very well miss the finals

Absolutely. You can't just decide to free up cap space and voila! player magically agrees to a release. The situation with Ravalawa and Lawrie should tell you it's not that simple (even for the Roosters). There's got to be something more to it which makes the player so compliant. Some have hinted at gossip girl style salacious rumours but I don't buy that at all. Plucked from thin air. The more likely rumour I've heard is gambling debt related.

I reckon him or his manager were talking to other clubs for increased $$$ which pissed off Nick & has led to this release. May isn't fighting to stay at the roosters either so it's defs $$$ related.
