Roosters won't be going anywhere near a comp next year, it's looking like they're tanking it like they did in 2016. The Walker and Smith injuries that keep them out for half a season have probably made them think they may as well use next year as an opportunity to clean house. All the high quality players for 2026 will be going to the roosters and they'll pretty quickly be right up near the top again. For next year though, they may very well miss the finals

If they sign Hunt as a dummy half, Cobbo or Staggs for their centres and pick up a surprise signing like Leo Thompson, their 2025 campaign suddenly grows wings. Sandon Smith, Townsend, Hunt and Walker (probably back for June25) will give them pretty good halves. Their pack is probably best in the NRL, big, fast, strong backline. And Manu rumoured to be returning mid season

I have my doubts cheese will be there, they've wanted to move him on for a while. Why would the Knights let Leo go for 2025? It just won't happen. Likewise, why would the Broncs let Staggs or Cobbo go before 2026? The roosters are going to clear house in 2025, front load a bunch of contracts, and yes in 2026, they may well have some/all the players you're talking about, plus more.

It isn't rare that clubs come to agreements and let players go early. EXAMPLES .. .If we get Gutho it will be for 2025 even though he is contracted until 2026. Same as Hunt. Not impossible

I can see why that would create much disharmony within the playing group, which is counterproductive to good results on the field, but hey, 'it takes two to tango'.

I'd be happy for Terrel as a Dragon recruit if the above was the case. It not comparable to his brother's actions.

Gambling debts are a bigger issue, borrowing from teammates or making stupid decisions to cover debts (Think Tim Simona or Ryan Tandy) This would need much more consideration

Gutherson asked the Eels for an immediate release, with The Daily Telegraph's Michael Carayannis revealing on SEN radio, a deal is imminent pending an agreement on the length of the contract.

“He will be a Dragon,” Carayannis said.

“They just need to iron out the details, especially around that third season (of the contract) and what he’s worth in that third year. That’s the sticking point.

“The Dragons are prepared to stump up full freight for next season. Don’t forget he has 12 months left on his deal with Parramatta and the Eels won't contribute a dollar.”

I say sign him ASAP with an added clause that he’s not to attend functions where players spouses will be in attendance.

Respectfully disagree Maestro. Our ex captain is like the kiss of death in any team he plays in.

He won't have his sooky , petulant attitude at the Roosters. He will take his QLD Origin attitude where he'll play any role the coach tells him to play. Unfortunately, at Saints and because of Griffin, he had a crap attitude towards our club. He was selfish, demanding. Sooky and petulant. He won't dare try that on at a new club. Especially a powerful club.

Thompson has already been signed by Newcastle.

Thompson was an example. The roosters might find a way to pinch Haas from the Broncos.....similar to how they nearly stole Fafita from the Titans. I'm never surprised by the Roosters and how they always manage to commence a season with the best (top 3) squads. There is no way Uncle Nick commences 2025 with an attitude of we'll sacrifice 2025 so we can win it in 2026. His expectations will be to provide Robbo with the best possible squad for 2025 AND 2026 and 2027 and ........
