I don't know if he is a right fit for us, but people have short memories. The kid broke his tibia after being dropped, was out for months and then released.

Jason Demetrio rated him highly, until, his own position came into question.

The kid can play. He was surrounded by underperforming stars and was made a scapegoat.
This short video explains/speculates about his injury. A 42-week recovery!

Ilias is my 2nd choice, I think hes a bit like Kyle but with hopefully a higher potential ceiling that is still to be discovered.

Atkinson I think brings speed, handles multiple positions, and has a real composure that a rookie shouldnt have.. indicating his ceiling might be a lot higher than any of the others....

Both should be enough to atleast make something of 2025.. I wouldnt consider any other options.

i know most on the forum are not fans of llias but for me he can move a team around the field, he is a good size takes the line on can tackle short kicking game seems ok, not sure about his long kicking game, I would take a chance on him.
Yes, over at Souths forum they all say he is a good defender. And he is not a small halfback. So let's see.

I'm still eager to see us not invest in hasbeens for the sake of it, because we need a bigger body etc. So, we have Sele, the Couchies and LPT, all on the improve and hopefully give us a decent season of time in the field. I dont think Flanno is in a rush for anything until something positive shows up on the radar, and then 2026 is where we really start to see some of our junior forwards really starting to kick in.
So, this is exactly the problem. We should not be just writing off another season but instead sending our scouts to South Africa, New Zealand, England and The South Pacific with instructions to find the type of props we need. These props to replace our third-in-line Lawrie and other older reserve-grade props. Keep Fifita, the Couchman, and the other junior props as they come through.

100% agree

IMO KF is a half like Illias, neither are suited to 5/8

Recruit Illias and as far as I'm concerned we still need a 5/8 so what's the point! His dollars too high to be back-up and doubt KF will be back-up either (He apparently has good connections with the coach)

All in on Atkinson

so many moving parts that it really is difficult to be too specific. However, I agree Atkinson seems like the best choice. A yes or no from him, and if yes 25 or 26? Is critical, but neither rule out Illias except possibly due to roster places. We could have both and see what happens, or Illias for 25, Atkinson joins 26, and we see who performs out of them, Kyle LKT… others like Doueihi come in if Atkinson says no.

Interesting the consensus seems to be Atkinson > Ilias, but truth is Ilias is only 6 months older than Atkinson and has a lot more week to week FG experience. I personally would prefer Ilias as I feel like he was one of the fall guys of a toxic culture at Souths the past two seasons. No surprise Cook is a big supporter

True but it's not about experience, more their styles.

Illias and Kyle are similar players who won't 'compliment' each other. Atkinson plays both half and 5/8 - he would complement either at 5/8 and cover half for an injury (LKT to 5/8).

Kyle then has the advantage over Illias, as he knows the team, the plays and will follow instruction to the letter.

We don't need a Kyle clone

I think its ok, but currently we have no halves and no props that are going to change a game for us.

Unless we get an atkinson and a prop I cant see us doing much
I'm afraid I have to agree.

Somewhat.

If we don't get those 2 positions filled with decent quality then it will be an uphill struggle.

Not sure about the spoon though as even with a more inferior roster than a few teams our superior coaching will get us more win than some...
