Arent they trying to move on Kennedy? And if successful they were going to find it easier to keep Atkinson?
I think they would like to move on Kennedy, but I cant imagine they could do it 'within weeks', noone in the NRL would buy him surely.. not at remotely full price anyway.. but this is his last year, so if Atkinson was willing to wait till 2026 for a first grade spot.. maybe it works.

God no, he’s on 800k + he’s average and he’s a bad egg (Punted from multiple clubs)

Much better to sign one of the younger halves we’ve been linked too with more upside

Have we considered Jackson Hastings? Good player who could provide good service for a year or two before we make a huge bid for someone else or gives LK enough time to become our first grade half.

God only knows RedVDave, with everything that is going on atm who really knows. We all wanted Flanno to operate in a stealth like manner and we are certainly getting that. I will just continue to have faith that he knows what he is doing.

So, this is exactly the problem. We should not be just writing off another season but instead sending our scouts to South Africa, New Zealand, England and The South Pacific with instructions to find the type of props we need. These props to replace our third-in-line Lawrie and other older reserve-grade props. Keep Fifita, the Couchman, and the other junior props as they come through.
I'll go. How long have I got?

Right. KF + LKT. That is a lot of pressure to put on young LKT. But Flanno knows what he is doing. And the kid look very sturdy. So fingers crossed.
LKT wasn't lacking any confidence, was he?
Maybe he's the Dragons version of Atkinson

Then Gutho becomes the backup for 5/8 but who is our No. 7 back up for Kyle? Unless LKT is the is 7 backup?

I mean we need to secure our starting 6&7 before we can really worry about depth.. but one of things I worry about is how 1 or 2 injuries in key positions.. potentially starts a tidal-wave i.e. .. gutho can play 6, and holmes to 1, and kyle to 14, and cook to 13 and SFinau to Ctr and Sloan to wing and.. just a hot mess of guys out of position, which surely results in a disaster in terms of combinations.

Technically we have depth in positions... but we want our depth to be.. ok Gutho is injured? In comes Sloan, oh Atkinson/Kyle is injured? In comes Ilias or LKT, Centre is the only spot we dont really have a dedicated backup for. It's also why we do need 3 halves in our system.

I try to hold back on it but I have a lot of faith in this kid. Watching his highlights, I was terrifically impressed by how willing he is to hold the ball all the way to the line, no fear of contact. This cannot be taught.

Another thing I really liked was the timing of his passing. He reminds me a lot of Foran. Foran always passes at the right moment. He always gives his runners room and he never sells a dump. This kid seems to have this.

And then there is his backing up, which is excellent.

I'm a fan until I see something to change my mind.

glad you see all that. I thought he was solid, without really impressing. The good take away I got was that he wasn’t fased by anything. As to the full skill set, I hope that shines thru next season

This is accurate, he is unphased and played the same way at every level from SG Ball to flegg to Reggie’s this year. His pass selection is so good for a half that young.
Not an incredibly athletic half like Dylan Brown/Ezra Mam but adequate and a fairly thick build.
Support play is superb and the most important thing is he can play both sides which not many halves can do.
Super high on him and pretty confident if he’s thrown into first grade at some point next season he’ll do a great job.

You could tell when he had a few chances in the NRL this year yeat he was told to pass early and make his tackles + leave everything else to Hunt. More responsibility on his shoulders with ball playing etc. will be a good thing
