Gee the way things are going on this Forum, unless you are prepared to cop criticism best not to say anything!!

What is wrong with you gentlemen out there. Life is too short to chastise and get all worked up. This is a Forum for us folk to express our opinions without any fear of being called names and what not.

Just relax and stay cool fellas. It's going to be a long hot summer.

Oops, have I said too much?
The problem as I see it is that some people find it impossible to accept someone else's opinion as even relevant...

According to this report Hunt will be getting 550k per year for two years from Broncos

I am glad that Flanno and the club let him go. We were paying him way over. 900k!
What ever we were paying him was considered 2 things, daylight robbery and fraud !!!

What happened to market value at 800 and the salary cap auditor keeping a close eye on things
Or were all offers around 550k (ie just 1) so that is his price
3 things
1. How dumb were we offering what we were or
2. Broncos somehow have a got away with it and
3. Can’t wait to see what his job and salary is in 3 years that they have assured him of
Assistant coach perhaps?

meanwhile back to Ryles discussion or the new Dragons halfback whatever you prefer

Blm01,
From what I've read broncos will be hit for 800 plus on the salary cap per hunts value.they offered him a new deal at 600 which he has accepted so broncos just get hit on cap for 200 thou.

There is also the possibility that he simply sacrificed a chunk of money for the promise of the second year. Most clubs were probably balking at that second year at his age. So $1.1M over 2 years less market value of $800k for next year = $300k for the second year, Still a decent wedge in the grand scheme of things when compared to what he would have earned outside of football for the year, And he still probably gets a coaching job with them anyway for 2027. I think this deal makes sense for everyone including us.

I may be wrong but I think it's this simple: he's counted as $800k on the salary cap if he's contract pays anything less than that amount.

Totally agree but we are use to one rule for some teams & another for others.

It still doesn't add up for me.

If the NRL have set his market value at 800K, then how are the Broncos only paying him 550K? The salary cap is provided by the NRL so either they have the room in the cap to pay him 800k or they don't.
Why would they take a hit of 800k but only pay him 550k, it doesn't make sense and smacks of Broncos being provided a privilege lesser clubs like us are never afforded.

Totally agree but who is left in the market ? We have signed well but still cant get the enforcer !
If we know we need an enforcer SAP, I am sure that Flanno does as well and I should think that he is searching high and low, or maybe his recruitment staff and scouts are, to get this elusive guy. We well and truly need that enforcer and if we don't we can forget finals footy. It only takes this particular guy to take control up the middle and allow guys like Su'a and Leilua etc to do their bit thereafter.

There are also the younger re-inforcements that could be part of the team next year, but one mean middle man is what we need from elsewhere.

I am not too au fait on how this contract offered to Hunt works but has the NRL okayed it and will it be registered and will the NRL explain how it all works out?

In the case of Hunt, he most probably is now happy - back at the Broncos in a more or less SOO team, getting $1.1million over two years, which I suppose $800K is for year 1 and $300K for year 2 and then maybe $100K per year in wages in an after footy job at the Broncos. Most player managers would want more than that but seeing that Hunt wants things settled and that he will end up with a job as well after footy, why not?
