Interpret it as you all want.

my interpretation is that last year is was about body shape and fitness.
yhis year it’s more hands on about play style, and has to since we lost our half back and the guy responsible for most try assists. We need to significantly change the way we play.

i don’t “know” that’s what he meant, but it’s my interpretation.

either way, I agree with Crush, best thing to happen to the team since bennet. (And that doesn’t mean I agree with everything, I just see a plan and a move, ent towards team and pride in the redV

Well very soon we will know how much of an anchor Hunt was and how much of a spinnaker K F will be.
Hunt was all about himself, surely you can be honest enough to admit that. The 2 games he wasn’t there the team played well AS A TEAM and won both. Mr million dollar man loved to take control and put shit on players that made errors (usually coz of him).

Look at how he carried himself the last month or so since he was released, like an absolute pork chop. I’d rather have a 6 and 7 like Ilias and Flanno Jr who you know 100% they will bust their ass for the jersey and have a team 1st mentality. Not sure the million dollar baby had that mentality

The try assist statistic is a myth

He received 98% of the ball

Made our attack very predictable and easily countered particularly by the better sides

2025 we will see an attack conducted by committee. What I mean by that is multiple points of attack and threats:

Ilias, Flanno jr, Gutho, Cook, Liddle. I predict a more balanced and unpredictable attack.

Sloan, Holmes, Suli to shine.

when Liddle and Cook are on the field together we will move into overdrive.

I am keen on having Leluia and perhaps Suli on one side and Holmes and perhaps Sua on the other with Kyle, Ilias, Liddle, Cook, and Gutho as both runners and link men. So many points of attack. I am sure Sloan would enjoy playing behind so many running offloaders if he got a chance.

Hi Gareth

Dean Young took the reins when Mary was given the bullet at the end of 2020. In 2021 he went to the Cowboys as the assistant there until the end of 2023. It was Ryan Carr who acted head coach at the Dragons when Hook got hooked.

I think I'm right if my memory serves me correctly.

But putting that minor issue aside, Dean Young should not be the head coach of the Dragons even if Flanno was to go elsewhere in my opinion.
After Mary , still the younger Young is not up to the task of a 1st grade coach .

The other point worthy of consideration is that I do not believe that he would have his own way with the boys of the boardroom .

Bennett did and I believe that Flanagan has gained some sway with them , however in saying that they - the board tend to bend with the first breeze that blows in of the sea.

Ilias is replacing Hunt.
God almighty at least try to follow the bouncing ball

Posters in here saying f**k of Hunt you were an anchor on our season not only this year but every other year as well. Blaming him for not being contenders for the semis.

Posters in here claiming that if K F had of played the last 4 games we would have made the semis. So basically saying that he would have been the difference.

So no Hunt and having K F will answer those questions so the post had nothing to do with Ilias.

FMD another one that can’t see the forest for the trees.

Read my post you responded to again and look at my response to Jubilee.

No doubt they’d love ti scalp Flanno for Deano.

Flanno knows the score and so it’s WIN and St. George doing very joint venture things.

I think WIN has the deciding vote via Lancaster.

Old men in suits.

Ever the same.
Ronnie - you good looking devil ( at least going by your avatar ) I do possess a suit somewhere at the back of my old wardrobe that if I can find would add a cloak of respectability about me - I hope . That plus the fact that I am getting on in years makes me the perfect candidate.

Surely that would give me the necessary credentials to gain a place on the board , with the St.George faction to swing all future votes in Flanagan’s favour . 😇

It looks like Leilua & Holmes will be left & Su’a/Suli right.
Which is still ok.

Looks like you’re flaring your nostrils old fella. Too many people in here being supportive of Flanno is doing your head in Isn’t it
FMD yet another one who can’t follow the bouncing ball and ends up completely misconstruing the post.

This has nothing to do with S F but everything to do with people’s thoughts and posts on Hunt & K F.

IMO Shane Flanigan is the best thing to happen to the club since Wayne Bennett.
I just don’t get how people cannot see it.
2025 is going to be a great season and 2026 I can see us challenging for the top 4.
We are building something special, if you can’t see it yet then time to open your eyes and enjoy the ride.
Yeah agree.

Its good.

I also have a suit or two from a previous life.

I like it.

Let’s do it.

Lot of posts about Hunt in here still, every other thread, every second post. He's gone, you gotta let go, just hit flush, let him float away like a turd down the Brisbane River off to stink up the Broncos, again. We've got better things to occupy our thoughts, clean slate, Dragons 2025. Don't look back.

OT

I am another forum member who feels that the Flaano Jr suspension was a serious issue for the side over the last 4 games of the season. His work rate and effectiveness in defence was sorely missed. His suspension unsettled the defensive line.

Our team needed all hands on deck to be competitive against any side in 2024.

No one is suggesting Flanno Jr is a better individual player than Hunt. He is however a better team player.

Ilias is going to play to his strengths. He will not attempt to be Hunt. Nor should he.

SF will set up the side in attack completely differently now that Hunt is gone. I don’t believe there is any point in comparing Ilias to Hunt.

Hunt demanded and received virtually all the ball last season.

Ilias and Flanno Jr will steer the side around with input from Cook and Gutho in particular.

Defensively I believe our side will be much stronger in 2025.

I lost count of the number of critical mistakes Hunt made in the last 4 games, from throwing intercepts to missing one on one tackles. Berating young players. Rather than lift the team, he often weighed it down.
