I have been re-watching some 2024 games and one thing I have noticed is that when we played up-tempo with a good line speed, we won. And when other sides did it to us and came up fast in defense, we crumbled. The centers would get poor ball, although Suli did his best and often carried well.

What is the answer to that? Big rampaging forwards? Kicking in behind? Standing deeper?
I viewed last year much the same. What I can’t work out is why we seemed to combat it some games, but seem to be entirely susceptible other times. I recall suggesting to mates that a lot depended on the refereeing, but I can’t be sure. By that I mean, we were penalised for slowing things down, while opponent seemed to get away with it. Melbourne are masters of this. Other than that I can only imagine some games we just weren’t “up for it”?

Right. That means
1. get over the advantage line
2. force multiple guys to tackle us
3. fast play the ball
4. roll-on, or spread the ball, or get penalties, or scoot out of dummy half
5. off-load to support

This is where big mobile guys come in handy
Dogs good long kicking game helped them out of this problem with their small pack. The inconsistencies of ours was an issue.

if that’s true, and considering Hunt was our main long kicker last year, then we really need to develop our kicking game this year. Illias? Kyle? Others like Holmes?

The spine seems to be down in Melbourne on a camp / tour. Gutho, Cook, Illias we're all putting up pics of the Collingwood training facilities yesterday saying "Day 1" in their stories. They went to the AO last night! Maybe a kicking camp!!!

I they're all onto your modus operandi buddy!
Like holding a coach responsible for their actions & outcomes and setting some basic kpi’s.

Obviously some just don’t like that way of looking at a footy team and just like Pom Pom’s and streamers on the occasions we might score let alone win a game.

Hard to believe that Frank Facer would even be rendered useless by some in this place.

The board at tigers seem to be moving on for the future today with 4 new members.
Dragons board still sitting on their hands as usual no idea.
The last i heard before xmas it was the guy from a superleague club .
And before that was the guy from supercars that recently stepped down.
Can we please stop with the unfavorable comparisons with West Tigers? They are an appallingly badly run club. Their board is incompetent. This is the second clear-out in 12 months. The new board members have zero football experience. The dismissals were necessary following internal investigations into some simply terrible behavior. The new board members will not take them forward in any way. We've got our problems, but can we stop holding the Tigers up as a club we should be emulating?

Dylan Brown to Saints may not be as impossible as you think. King Gutho is well liked by the Parra boys and if they see Saints playing a good style of footy with Gutho in the thick of it they may be tempted. Atkinson is coming on the cheap and so is Illias so they do have some budget there for a marquee half. Atko/Brown would be a pretty solid halves combo. It would be funny if he signs for Saints for 200k a year less, like Lomax did after having a pot roast with Mrs Flanno.

Other alternatives are Roosters as Townsend is only there for 1 season, and if Brad Arthur gets the gig at Perth he may make Dylan his marquee signing and get him over a million a season to sign. Also how long till we hear Dogs are interested in Dylan Brown? I give it a week. Unlimited cap.

Brown is a talented footballer for sure but I like how currently Flanno seems to be recruiting guys based on character. Is Brown a man of the Gutho type? Or is he the Corey Norman type? That is the most important thing to know about him.

Definitely Borey Snorman, we took that piece of shit off their hands for megabucks, and I don't rate Brown any higher than Snorman.

Better options out there and within, plus with the Italian Stallion coming in we don't need him at all.

Did I mention I don't rate Brown he is a carbon copy of Borey Snorman?
