Absolute media beat up mate. Waste of time reading the article. The “journo” is making Ackers out to be some huge loss if we let him leave. The kid has about a dozen others in front of him and was zero chance of playing nrl in 2025 and probably 2026. Absolute wank of an article to be honest

That doozy was towards the end of the article but halfway through the journo states that Ackers would probably spend the season in Flegg. Journo has no idea and probably one of the eggs who lists Blake Lawrie as our starting lock for round 1

Corey Ackers, Not a big loss as he is stuck behind the likes of Tonga, Stewart. Latu and the Couchman twins

Thanks for the info.

Very true, mate. And that's why if your last sentence is true I hope he takes as much time off as he needs beacuse that shits no joke
Who knows if something happened at a training run that maybe brought back "memories " of that tackle he did all those years ago . If so who knows what he is going through , and if he wants i,,ediate release maybe he is finished with league ??? i suppose we will find out when they sit down for a chat . However its not good if Molo has "serious" issues

The Lawrie starting lock comments always makes me laugh. I just think of blokes like Yeo, Murray, Watson, Radley etc and think “yeah I can see the similarity”.

Ackers was on his 2nd year in a dev contract.. but yeah there is a logjam and a half for young forwards.. but hes not the only whos been overtaken in thge pecking order.. Liu, Webster (& Coric) are 3 such examples, the next big things, but kids years behind them are already contracted up ahead of them.

Anyway will be interesting to see who takes Ackers spot, plus Lawson will upgrade at some point.. they might throw Halangahu into one spot, or they might let all of the T&Trial kids fight it out in Flegg/Cup.. some of them will need a promo.

The reality is that absolutely no youngster is out of contention.

If they train hard, if they play well and have something to offer, they could break into the top side.

I did some research about injuries and suspensions earlier day.

I looked at the end of 2023 and did an average players out per per side per top 17

I can say with reasonable confidence, we are looking at around about 4 players per side done and dusted.

There’s variations etc, but that’s a lot of players out.

Anyway, from that stat, there are at least 4 potentially vacant positions up for grabs and actually expected to be filled.

But a big spanner in the works, the difficulty in arguing a player is pressing for the top 4, it depends on position available.

There’s no point being the next great rated prop who can’t get a game as all props are healthy while flanno is trialing a fifth fullback.

Forum icon @Gareth67 is a former LU legend!

Took some punishing hit ups during Mary’s last 2 seasons.

I see Mary is back leaving his footprints all over the club.

Fox Sports lìsts us as in the market for Brown from Parra. Doubt. We have been down that road a couple of times before where one - possibly unreliable - big money player unbalances the team. And 5 year contracts are only for the best of the best.

I doubt it also as we have signed Atkinson from the Sharkies for '26. Salary cap space should be spent identifying and signing quality forwards.

I could not make sense of this article. There is no interest whatsoever from another club. Yet the title says "Set to Exit".

The club has offered him a NSWRL pathways deal instead of development deal according to the article.

My guess is that his manager is agitating to see if he can get a development deal with another club! If this is the case, at his level, he would be better of changing his manager rather than the club unless his manager gets a deal for him to play under Cleary, Bennett or Bellamy.

Not a lot of news around in the NRL at present, so the journos need to come up with a good click bait headline.
As you say, there is no guarantee that Ackers will be going anywhere in the short term at least.
Another example though of Flanagan putting his stamp on the club from the Nrl through to the juniors.
