The Rumours Thread

I met Joshua Aloiai around 2019/2020 at a WT fan day
he was most polite and respectful
The only player to get off his seat and pose properly for a photo with my son.

Yes he did shaft WT but he secured a financial windfall
Since then I reckon he has repaid his new employer in spades.
A mainstay for the last three years and was extended by "Seibs" last July for two more years. That doesn't smell like trash!

I would suggest an upgrade on Francis Molo for sure.

He refused to train with us as well.

I guess that’s “on par”

MOLO’S ANGER AT BOOZE JIBE

The reason why prop Francis Molo wants to quit St George Illawarra can be revealed.

He got upset over what was supposed to be a lighthearted comment relating to alcohol made by a member of Shane Flanagan’s coaching staff. Molo took it to heart because he hasn’t touched a drink for almost two years after being found guilty of a domestic violence offence.

In 2023, he pleaded guilty in Port Kembla Local Court to one charge of stalking or intimidation with intent to cause fear of physical or mental harm.

He avoided a conviction and was sentenced to a conditional release order for 18 months. He has been off alcohol ever since.

Molo fronted the Dragons board with manager Wade Rushton last week to fight a breach notice for not attending training. He is expected to return to training on Monday but is standing firm and it’s now almost certain he has played his final game for the Red V.

"...a light-hearted comment"

That'll do me.

We are better off without him if he's gonna give up on the club due to that.

See ya Francis...

In line with the rumour I heard, but not quite exact.

I suppose he took it as a bad personal slight. Flanno having a dig at him over a DV matter.

He gives up drinking, changes his ways, reflects on his shame and good on him for that. A lot of them just keep on being dickheads.

A mistake by Flanno, insensitive but I’m not sure it was meant as badly as Molo is taking it, especially with Shane’s past. He’s not overly judgmental

mmmm, but Molo, he can’t win this battle that’s for sure.

Game over unless he accepts he might be taking things a bit too far.

Pretty sure Flanno was mentioned days ago as NOT being the person involved. I’d suggest you get your facts in order before plastering his name all over the joint and shit canning the bloke

Flanno using Rothfield to put the club’s side of the story on the stable?

Were they having a drink somewhere and a staffer told him to slow down?

If it was such a big deal why has it taken Molo months to react/report it ?

Perhaps Francis really does have mental health issues.

He’s not Team Flanno, he’s Team Josh.

Grossly overrated, his stats give him up.
Hard to locate appropriate stats for middles
I will take your word for it

Flanno would have seen plenty of Joshua Aloiai during his tenure at Manly

So if Flanno wants him, he knows what he is doing.

Sorry Silverdale - I'll take Flanno's opinion over yours! :D

I could not find his detailed stats either - altho he has above 90% tackle efficiency for Samoa - but I have watched a few Manly matches lately and he has caught my eye. He hits very hard, he is smart with ball in hand and can run with it too.

He is 29 and contracted to Manly till end 2027. So the only question is why he wants to come to us.

Now this is a crazy scenario if true ... Here we are saying Molo has an agenda because he wants out when he has a 2 year deal and this article says we are chasing Aloiai even though he is under contract for Manly.
This whole "contract ' situation is so rubbery unless Vlandys decides to step in it will get to the stage that players will be on the move as teams look at strengthening positions during the year and entice players to jump ship
maybe if you sign players for an extended contract to make it appealing But if Aloiai is indeed a target but hes contracted for 2 years how can we chase him .......

Salary cap pressure

Clubs all seem to know one another’s business

Manly may have some younger, better forwards they want to retain or upgrade.

I have no reason to doubt this but can only think Molo wanted out and this was his excuse. Bottom line to me if someone offends me you front them either personally or through the chain of command and only after that has failed would you IMO walk away.
