Hazleton potential signing had me buzzing. Klemmer is completely the opposite. We have the experience already we need some player who can be part of future success when we realistically hope to be playing for trophies. Old, and not a very likable player from the way he has carried on in the past. Has Hook-esque type feel to it as a poential signing. Hope not true.

Hazelton was for 2026 though, we need someone for 2025.
Seeing Hooks name in your post triggered me a bit here, you cannot draw any parallel between Flanno and Hook. One is a winner, the other a loser.
If Flanno gets Klemmer, he’ll be a good signing and play well.
If Hook signed Klemmer, he’d be a terrible signing and play badly.
One can coach and gets the best out of players, the other can’t.

Make that no spots left. We used the last one on Emre Guler. We have to get rid of someone just to make a space.
That person we need to be rid of is Molo

He's been given permission to speak to other clubs, but all depends on how quickly he can find a new club and what 'compensation' is offered before being released.

Then we get Klemmer

The compensation is he takes his brother with him and we then have 2 free spots. If Lawrie or Rava were included I would pay him.

We're not short of anyone. We have one spot left on the roster. Do you want to use it on Klemmer?

Maybe you've missed the last few seasons - we're desperately short on middle forwards. Molo is now an untenable situation so replacing him with a solid first grader in Klemmer is at worst a decent stop gap solution that improves the forward pack, even if only slightly.
Then hopefully we can get Hazelton over the line for '26.

No, haven't missed the last few seasons. But there are too many "if's" in this situation. If Molo gets another gig, if Klemmer is happy with a 1 year deal, if Flanno actually wants him. Still think it smells of player managers and journos conjecturing rather than anything concrete.

You'd imagine there'd be a lot of freight picked up by the Tigers for Klemmer & given Klemmer's deal for 26 is a club option, he'd have to take a salary cut for 2026 at the Dragons. The deal probably makes sense for all three parties.
Without Molo, we definitely have a gap in experience in the front row. With Liddle likely moving to a running forward, both Couchman twins Stewart, Egan and Loko JR are all very, very young. There is no way we can blood them all week-in-week out.

One of the things Klemmer will bring is impact off the bench. That was a huge issue for us last year, we just had no punch from the bench and that's part of why Flanagan pushed JDB to the bench.

I think the Klemmer/Molo thing will drag on a bit. Molo has been given permission to sell his soul somewhere else but I can't see him getting the offers or the money he and his new manager probably want, too much baggage now - his history with a player death, domestic violence and alcohol and now "depression"/taking offence at some off the cuff remark and throwing a tantrum - not the things you want in a new recruit. Top that off with the fact he's not that good (also not training atm), serviceable but not very attractive at the price he wants. He won't get $550K (?) anywhere else . Can't we just sack him ? Or maybe an instant release for Rav or MMolo or Cake - let one of them go now. We need to get the Klemmer deal sorted, preferably before round 1.

Surely Molo has breached his contract by refusing to turn up and train. Can’t he just have his contract terminated ?
No ,the problem is that this is a workplace issue he will contest that he has been bullied or somehow badly treated, from reports that I have read he has hired a high profile lawyer to take on his dispute with the dragons.

I imagine that we have to go through a process, which is time consuming. At present I believe he is on leave. The problem is, our club has one of their “top 17” refusing to contribute, and we can’t go a get a replacement. While I am sympathetic to a mental health issue, it looks more like a desire to move, and the club is suffering as a result By being denied a player and also unable to arrange a replacement.

Molo has a big flying lawyer now also.. that probably gives you an idea that this could stuff around for a while.. we cant afford that tbh.. take the haircut and pi$$ him off.

Do agree the 2026 money could be the problem..

That lawyer only got a settlement for Folau

If the NRL come to the party and say we can absorb depressolos 2026 money into our cap, then just f**king turf him. This is ridiculous

Its really just how quickly can things be turned around if we get the NRL or RLPA involved.. the last time we needed the NRL to get involved with Ramsey it took them was it 6 or 9 months or something.. they sat on their hands because they literally didnt want to get involved because it cause them some blowback.

There is always something, every offseason. Mental health card is bullshit unless he leaves the game, if he goes to another team it's a cop out. Big bad Molo got his feelings hurt and now we will get dragged through the media until he is let go. So much positivity going into this season we don't need this hanging around what a joke
