Hazelton was for 2026 though, we need someone for 2025.
Seeing Hooks name in your post triggered me a bit here, you cannot draw any parallel between Flanno and Hook. One is a winner, the other a loser.
If Flanno gets Klemmer, he’ll be a good signing and play well.
If Hook signed Klemmer, he’d be a terrible signing and play badly.
One can coach and gets the best out of players, the other can’t.
Obviously.

This club does not need David Klemmer anywhere near it. And I'm well aware of the hole being left by Molo and the coach's ability. This just left me feeling like back in the old days when we'd sign Aaron Woods because we were defeated.

There is always something, every offseason. Mental health card is bullshit unless he leaves the game, if he goes to another team it's a cop out. Big bad Molo got his feelings hurt and now we will get dragged through the media until he is let go. So much positivity going into this season we don't need this hanging around what a joke
This will be Shane's opinion too.

I dont take mental health lightly but this is just another Ben Hunt misery guts situation as far as I can tell.

People like Molo make the whole mental health issue an absolute farce i for one do not have any sympathy for it or for anyone because you cannot tell who is genuine or who isn't the card gets pulled far too often.

That's a rly interesting comparison.. I'm going to try and compare their stats.

Age:
o Woods was about 15mths younger at the time than Klemmer (now)

Attack:
Measured in the year before leaving their old clubs (2021 for Woods, 2024 for Klemmer)
o Woods: 111m per game (9.3m per run)
o Klemmer 101m per game (9.8m average)

Defence:
o Woods - 26 tackles per game (94% efficient)
o Klemmer 23 tackles per game (96% efficient)

Ur call is accurate.. Pretty similar stats...

Compare the Pair:
If I was going to pick 2 things I think are different though..

1) The squad each player was in:
o Klemmers data is coming out of a 3x wooden spoon club (I believe his stats were much better before the tigers)
o Sharks finished 9th that year with Woods (Pack of Fifita, Graham, Uele, Hunt, Katoa, Rudolf, Tolman)

2) Unlike Woods... I don't think Klemmer could be accused of being a cat... He will run into the teeth of the battle... which is what we need to protect our young forwards...

But 100% worth the analysis... and may well prove accurate.

That's a rly interesting comparison.. Im going to try and do a stat analysis on my mobile phone while sitting in the car.. Not easy lol.

Age: Woods was actually about 15mths younger at the time than klemmer is now.

Run metres in their year before leaving their old club was Woods - 111m per game (9.3m per run) in 2021. Klemmer is 100m per game (9.8m average) in 2024.

Defence: Woods - 26 tackles per game (94% efficient), klemmer 23 tackles per game (96% efficient)

Ur call is accurate.. Pretty similar stats... If I was going to pick 2 things I think are different though..

1) Klemmer was doing it at the 3x spooner club (stats were much better before the tigers), versus the sharks for Woods.

2) I don't think klemmer could be accused of being a cat... He will run into the teeth which is what we need to protect our young forwards...

But 100% worth the analysis...

Klemmer is not a sure thing now this whole Molo scenario is set to derail those talks.
Some mail about that Spencer Leniu getting restless at the Roosters...
Not sure the reasoning but it wouldn't surprise if it had something to do with the way May was shown the door...
Another damaging prop who needs the right mentor that gets him to produce his best
Has all the tools and would be an amazing pick up
see how this plays out

they wont do this as it will open the doors for any player but really i would love if they just let molo walk, even if we get nothing in return. I'd rather start a game with josh coric who wants to be there than have some sook ruining the whole team cohesion like happens to us every year.

A suggestion on how to discourage this situation where players try to sook out of contracts. A bond.

When the NRL registers a contract, player and team agree to be bonded to the NRL. If a contract is dissolved prematurely, player and club each pay the NRL 50% of the remaining value of the contract.

Possible results?

1. Fewer frivolous or disingenuous attempts to get out of contracts.
2. It might mean the end of very long contracts.
3. It might mean more performance-based and optional contract extensions.

An extra layer for you, i know one of Woods best mates, when he moved from Sharks to Dragons he was stoked because he got more time with his family. He liked Hooks chilled nature and said the training regime was easier than Sharks, he got home earlier.
So again, if Klemmer was signed by Hook, dogshit signing, he’d be just taking a pay check like Woods did.
If Klemmer signs under Flanno, he’ll be motivated and giving his all.
Forget comparing stats about the players, it means nothing, it’s about what the coaches.

Great call.. different individuals.. different motivations.. are they looking to cruise or are they still hungry..

Woods I reckon would be a great guy to have around the group as a kind of chill/dad/experienced/funny personality.. like I think you need atleast 1 funny guy to lighten the mood.. but.. if hes just wanting to chill into retirement.. that can be a negative influence also...

Anyway.. lets see if we can offload Mr Francis first..

I’m sceptical based on the move from dogs, to Newcastle to tigers. Not sure he was wanted at the last 2 at the end. But his style fits the teams needs atm.

Imagine Spencer Leniu on the Dragons menu
That'd make Klemmer tremor.

Just dreaming!
