The Rumours Thread

Hazleton potential signing had me buzzing. Klemmer is completely the opposite. We have the experience already we need some player who can be part of future success when we realistically hope to be playing for trophies. Old, and not a very likable player from the way he has carried on in the past. Has Hook-esque type feel to it as a poential signing. Hope not true.
It seems that, if Haselton signs is will be from 2026 on.

We need two more props to replace Molo and Lawrie, who are ineffective. Klemmer will be one of these props for 2025, with the other TBA.

That's a rly interesting comparison.. I'm going to try and compare their stats.

Age:
o Woods was about 15mths younger at the time than Klemmer (now)

Attack:
Measured in the year before leaving their old clubs (2021 for Woods, 2024 for Klemmer)
o Woods: 111m per game (9.3m per run)
o Klemmer 101m per game (9.8m average)

Defence:
o Woods - 26 tackles per game (94% efficient)
o Klemmer 23 tackles per game (96% efficient)

Ur call is accurate.. Pretty similar stats...

Compare the Pair:
If I was going to pick 2 things I think are different though..

1) The squad each player was in:
o Klemmers data is coming out of a 3x wooden spoon club (I believe his stats were much better before the tigers)
o Sharks finished 9th that year with Woods (Pack of Fifita, Graham, Uele, Hunt, Katoa, Rudolf, Tolman)

2) Unlike Woods... I don't think Klemmer could be accused of being a cat... He will run into the teeth of the battle... which is what we need to protect our young forwards...

But 100% worth the analysis... and may well prove accurate.
Great research, great post.

Is this guy & his management ok!
1. He’s dreaming a club as dumb as our old management would offer more than 500
2. Dragons contribute 😂😂. He needs to pay us!!
So frankly wants out due to mental anguish over remark yet he wants a bigger pay day and wants us to contribute, where's the mental anguish if suddenly you get a contract from another team franky wake up to yourself if you want out then accept any offer much like lodge went thru..if nobody wants you for your price fall on your sword and retire don't suddenly do a uturn stay with us and then play a health card trick to get your dollars..how do you and your manager think your worth 600k anyway you definitely have delusions expecting that

An extra layer for you, i know one of Woods best mates, when he moved from Sharks to Dragons he was stoked because he got more time with his family. He liked Hooks chilled nature and said the training regime was easier than Sharks, he got home earlier.
So again, if Klemmer was signed by Hook, dogshit signing, he’d be just taking a pay check like Woods did.
If Klemmer signs under Flanno, he’ll be motivated and giving his all.
Forget comparing stats about the players, it means nothing, it’s about what the coaches.
Good call regarding coaches decisions. But don’t discount stats. The top sports teams around world use stats for a reason.

I don't think you can use Klemmer's 2024 stats as an adequate guide to how he might play this year under Flanno.
His 2024 stats are an aberration and not a true measure of his playing career. You take his last 10 years and 2024 was unlike any of the previous 9 years, his stats were well down by every measure and I'm convinced that that was mostly due to playing under a completely out of his depth, rookie coach in Benji. Just look at his stats from 2023 to 2024 in the same team (different coaches) they're like two completely different players stats.
Better I think to look at his overall career to make your assessment, not just one year in a shit team with a totally inept coach.

This is what I mean.

Why jump at Klemmer out of desperation when something better will come up between now and first few weeks of the comp. It will. It always does.

If not Leniu, someone else.

Hang tight Flano, let's not go there with Klemmer, please.
Problem is we need someone for 2025, Klemmer for one year is needed at this point we wont get any decent now for 2025.

Before Molo did his thing, we needed a big, experienced, first-grade prop. Now that Molol does not want to play with the Dragons, we really need two, and if we swap with Lawrie, we will have the cap space and room within our top 30 to at least field some experience in our forwards each game.

I'd say we need to bring only one young forward onto the reserve bench each game; any more would most likely impede our ability to play competitively.

I think the Klemmer/Molo thing will drag on a bit. Molo has been given permission to sell his soul somewhere else but I can't see him getting the offers or the money he and his new manager probably want, too much baggage now - his history with a player death, domestic violence and alcohol and now "depression"/taking offence at some off the cuff remark and throwing a tantrum - not the things you want in a new recruit. Top that off with the fact he's not that good (also not training atm), serviceable but not very attractive at the price he wants. He won't get $550K (?) anywhere else . Can't we just sack him ? Or maybe an instant release for Rav or MMolo or Cake - let one of them go now. We need to get the Klemmer deal sorted, preferably before round 1.
M Molo is the only one of those off contract this year.

Loko Jr top of the pile, Finau Latu next, then prob Stewart. Nick Tsougranis seems to have gone off the scene. Looked promising.

Who do you want as that young reserve forward possm.

I agree. Give these young props the 16 jumper for a few weeks' experience in 2025.
I think Hamish Stewart is front of the queue with Flanno atm.

Three very exciting prospects regardless.
Yes, and hopefully all three do well coming off the first-grade bench in the 16 jumper during season 2025.

So, if we land Klemmer we land, we still need to recruit one additional prop to be competitive.

Agree on that. We all know that’s the biggest hole in the roster still to address.
