I believe that in 2025, our main problem is the defensive work of our forwards. I consider this a basic skill required by both coach and players.

Also, we need the Board to stop doing things cheaply. It is urgent that we recruit some top-grade forwards to keep the team competitive while we bring through our promising juniors. To do this successfully, we need a recruitment manager and a recruitment team who know the ropes and who can sell the club to potential recruits.

So, I say sack the coach responsible for defense and replace him with someone more capable.
Thinking some of new players playing styles have been tipped upside down
GULER at the Raiders was an off the bench player Not a starter
Played well for us in the trials but against moderate NSW Cup opposition
COOK Puzzling signing when Liddle played so well last year . Both cant play at the same time . Had enough coverage in that position
ILIAS were desperate for a Seven and L I appeared best of what was available. Seen nothing yet to get enthused by. Should've iced game last week with a late field goal but put up a bomb ffs. Glover is playing well in NSW Cup and poss worth a try , while Jack Cogger , more of an organising style half will be unwanted at the Knights with Brown arriving
LUCH..Always belieived his best was coming on around the 20 min mark when opp defenses start to tire and not starting . Is an attacking back rower at best , when aiming his attack one or two off the ruck
KLEMM here to do a job .Run Hard Tackle Hard
Need to make a significant Prop signing for Next Year , just unsure who is about or not happy at his current Club
Our forward pack , in particular , appear Comfortable , with very little pressure coming from NSW Cup . Some impressive youngsters coming thru but not just ready yet...

By end 2026, the only members of the pack that will remain are Liddle, Sua and the new young guys, Couchmans, Egan and Stewart. Buying on the open market may get us one or two winners but we probably need to continue with the current policy of bringing on youth. So until 2027, we are going to suffer. I hope Flanno gets to enjoy the fruits of dragging us through this personnel and attitude makeover, but I am not sure he will.

Buzz on 360 has mentioned that Dragons could be monitoring DCE’s contract situation with Manly , DCE wants two year deal , unsure if Manly would want to offer that at 36 years of age
No club named but this was also reported on Zerotackle. If it is us, what does it mean?

1. We cannot win a comp in the next three years with so many old legs in the backline and weak forwards, so what is Flanno's idea?

2. Flanno sees halfback, centre and fullback options among the young guys but does not expect them to be ready until 2028.

3. The function of the old guys is to set some kind of example for the tyros while avoiding the demoralization of the wooden spoon and to continue the clean out.

4. Will Flanno even get to 2028 or will a new coach get the benefits of his long range planning?

Whilst he is not my cup of tea - this is a brilliant piece by Buzz. I strongly suspect Manly officials will be seething today. If they keep DCE next year which I suspect they will, they may be forced to pay him (on the books) higher than they had planned.

I suspect the Salary cap works as follows under two quite similar scenarios -

1. Gun young player signs a 3 year contract for 200Kpa/250Kpa/300Kpa. In year one they explode in performance and are a much sought after commodity.
Big resourced team - these teams keep the player to their contract amounts and reward them with large off the book kickers.
Poorly resourced team - these teams limit the player to their contract amounts. The player becomes disgruntled and their player managers seed stories to get them out of the team.

2. Gun Player nearing end of prime but still valuable.
Big resourced team - reduce the player's salary on the basis of age but make up difference off the books or they offer him a multi year ambassadorial role post retirement.
Poorly resourced team - reduce the player's salary, player becomes disgruntled and leaves. New team sign him to a reduced amount due to age and make up difference off books/ambassadorial role.

You need money (lots of it) and resourceful management to be successful in the NRL.

Sutton’s release is timed such that it is likely true. Injury riddled player at dogs, so a value signing who has something to prove (though dogs supporters happy to see the end of him)

Saw a rumour that we have signed Ryan Sutton? I’ve never heard of him
Until the Molo issue is finalised, the Dragons do not have a roster spot available to sign him.
Until the club officially announces Molo has been released, thinking there will be plenty of speculation as to which player we will sign.
Thought Sutton went okay when he was with the Raiders, but the move to the Dogs really did not work out at all.

Dogs fans seemed happy Sutton had been released.. they said he was on 550k... very convenient for Gus... surely hes not leaving without somewhere to go... I know 0 about him.. looking at games played he has had a tonne of injuries and not played much at all since joining the dogs in 2023.

"Most recently, he underwent a full knee reconstruction after previously being sidelined with another knee injury and a hip injury."
