I despise "six again." If it isn't an invitation to corruption, it will do until one gets here.
It was brought in to keep the game going, less stoppages, the issue is referee's know that blowing the whistle in your 40 will stop the game, so if the defending teams is offside or slowing the play the ball, the ref will wait till the attacking teams crosses the 40 and on the next play they will call out 6 again, which is BS, its predictable, when we are at the game, you can see the team is offi side and as soon as they cross the 40 up goes the refs hand 6 again..
The other one that irks me as well the 7 tackle set, it was brought in because kickers would on purposes kick the ball out, so either the fullback mainly Slater wouldn't get a chance to run at a broken defensive line and also for the defense to set themselves, but now we give a 7 set for a knock on in goal and any other infringement that the attacking team causes, its too much of a leg up, it's not needed.

Couldn’t agree more.
I despise the six agains.
As for the 7 tackles restarts there’s often an inch perfect kick put in that gets penalised one way or another.

I hate penalties for contacting a ball catcher when his feet are off the ground - penalise it if it's deliberate and dangerous - which is a judgement call (which is what referees are for, after all), otherwise he's fair game.

I also hate penaties just because of 'contact with the head' - often simple accidents, often nothing at all in it, often caused by the way the attacking player goes into the tackle - again, a judgement call; penalise it if it's a foul, otherwise get on with the game.

What does the ref do in the following scenario, 30seconds to go, attacking team is down by 1, they're on the attack 40m out, defensive team is offside, does the ref call 6 again or penalty?
When Bennett was coaching us, we would always take the 2 on a penalty, now you don't get the opportunity.
When does a ref blow a penalty as opposed to giving 6 again

I agree that some of the high tackle penalties are just accidents - especially the ones where players fall into the tackle - but I don't think the NRL have a choice on this one because of legal issues and the risk of future litigation.
They have to be seen to be actively protecting the heads of players. Because of how litigious society is now - and how much worse that will get in the future - the NRL have to guard against future lawsuits and being held responsible for CTE injuries. I think the penalties are a necessary evil unfortunately.

I'm happy we have decided not to chase DCE.
It would be a huge improvement however, short term for the club.
We need to calm the farm with Illis, he played two games and he will improve with Atkinson next year. Plenty of water under the bridge.
We should pursue with Illias this season. However, We all know Ilias is a placeholder until we find someone better. Whether that be signing someone good for 2027 or the emergence of reed. In both cases, having DCE there would improve the team. Ilias is a 2-year bandaid. If we’re going to do that we may as well sign someone a bit more competent for the 2 years so we can enjoy an improved team and a mentor for the young halves

Anyway, DCE is not going to the Dragons. It is reported that the Dragons have pulled out of the race, that's assuming we were in the race in the first place.

I do not like the short restart rule change, but funnily enough that change favours us. We aren't good at building pressure and getting set restarts, nor are we good at withstanding pressure and defending multiple sets.

But as a neutral viewer, I used to quite like watching a team slowly squeeze the vice over multiple sets of six. The mounting tension is compelling to me. If the team cracks, great. If they don't? Even better! Rugby league as entertainment has (had) a great balance of action and tension. I feel the short restart and the six tackle rule have moved us more towards the short attention span territory of The Fast & The Furious rather than the satisfying catharsis of The White Lotus.

Why would that be we were only competing against the Roosters :)
This is just my thoughts on DCE ....... Just my thinking ( hate to say this ) but I feel the Bulldogs are building close to another Premiership , next couple of years so DCE could be on their radar , he could be what they need to get them over the line and Daley retires with a Premiership .........

Yeah you could be onto something mate, but you do know that if uncle nick really wants something,,,well. Also I wouldnt be writing the roosters off just yet for another premiership.

Yep but I think the Bulldogs are closer to win the prize than the Roosters ........ Anyway don't care where he goes , just my thoughts ...... Let's hope we start winning games if not it will be hard to come back ........

Bulldogs already pulled out... it almost certainly means that DCE has already got his club lined up.. its what Gus always does when hes out of the running to make sure the narrative sound like it was their decision.

tbf we are basically doing something similar.. no point offering when there is 0% chance of him coming.
