The Rumours Thread

Hi guys,

Knights supporter here. Just read that we’re interested in one of your juniors, Finau Latu. Don’t think I’ve ever seen him play. Is he any good? Is he far off FG? as we have a bit of an immediate need there.

From the article though sounds more likely that his manager is just trying to get a better contract from the Dragons rather than actually likely to leave.

The worst secret in the game is the strength of their juniors, but a few years to go before they are unleashed.

You guys, us and the dragons are having quite frustrating seasons. No one getting banged up, but we cant seem to nail it either. Our own worst enemies most the time.

That is a rumour I've read in a News Limited paper earlier in the year when SGI were missing out on those prop targets (Campbell- Gillard, Saifiti, Horsburgh) we were linked to. Flanno was cast as being "difficult"to deal with by player agents.
Thats because previously the agents knew, whatever they asked for we gave them, overpaid for players, we gave a 6 year deal to Zac, we paid something like $500k to Sullivan, Amone before they had kicked a ball in 1st grade, Lawrie contract and a host of others, Flano put a stop to most of that and they didn't like it..

What have we learned tonight - Dolphins will not come last.
The Panthers dynasty looks to be over. Having Yeo and JFH in the engine room cannot be understated. Also losing their home ground doesn't help.
Not going hard for Blaze Talagi was a good move.
Poor Talagi, he was the opposite of king Midas tonight. Everything he touched turned to Sh**.

Yeah, no one wants to loose this guy, top shelf. biggest issue is that we have others who can cover lock (inc. Stewart) and lost of juniors. we will struggle to keep them all. Yes I think his manager is trying to pump up his contract, and we may be forced to let him leave. Personally I’d prefer to over invest in our young forwards until we work out who are the biggest stars.

all that said, he is 19, and probably needs a season or two to find his feet, so it’s likely your paying overs to get a future player rather than satisfying a current need, and with so much tied up in Ponga and brown next year it’s difficult for you guys too

Thanks mate. Yeah we’re in the same boat there. We have a lot of good young forwards coming through but they’re all a few years off being a main stay in the forward pack.

I doubt he’d come to the Knights as yeah we don’t have a lot of money. Even if we could offer him a big contract I dont think we would as POS doesn’t seem to want to spend a lot on middle forwards.

Hope you guys offer him a small contract which makes him realise a longer stint with the dragons is worthwhile

Let’s be honest he (and probably a host of other Dragons and Knights juniors) will likely end up at the Roosters, Dogs, etc sadly.

Yeah,

We’ve already packed up Galvins suitcase.

We simply just won’t be able to keep all of our Fainus if he wants his 1.4m or whatever. Satan as his manager doesn’t help.

We don’t want to re-live the Bung Hunt experience, where he’s overpaid and attacks his own club, the coach and the coaches kid because he’s love with himself.

At least Lomax is sharing his personal trauma for leaving SGI high and dry. Gutho said some of the eels were trying to gee him up, which he had a giggle at.

Imagine trying to intimidate Gutho?!!

He said he used it as motivation lol.

Latu's management are doing what they're paid to do.
So, far there's been talks the Knights, spoken to Bellamy and Gus.
At this stage, it appears he wants to stay a Dragon and we want to keep him.
No offer from other clubs can be tabled until after round 6. So, whatever the Knights and anyone else offers will be presented to our recruitment gurus (<--- pink text obviously), then our negotiations will start.

I'm not too worried about the Knights tbh, but I thought that about AFB also (how wrong was I there). The Storm, nah, but the Dogs are my biggest concern.

Brent Read has an article in the Tele ranking NRL stadia. Kogarah is ranked as 9th best - are you kidding me. Should be bottom 3 along with GIO and Leichhardt Oval. Kogarah Oval not rectangular and only one side has decent seating/views.
I note Shark Park is second last - begs the Q - is the article written to push the Shark's case for a new ground now that Shane R and the Tigers have shot a bullet over the Gov'ts front bow with a proposed upgrade to Campbeltown oval. Post their development - there is not much room to tweak Shark Park. Maybe a completely new ground is being sought. They wouldn't be so nice as to suggest the Dragons could also use?
The fix to Kogarah is simple - drop the surface of the pitch 2 metres - make it rectangular and built the exact replica of the Fulton stand at both ends.

What number was WIN? That one needs to go to 25k (pref 30k) as a regional ground.

Nothing wrong with Jubilee in my book. BTW it was dropped by 2m last time it was redone, that was before the stand was lengthened and the Northern seating put in.

What’s the Fulton Stand? Can you put a pic in ?

WIN was 10th.
The Fulton stand is the recently built stand at the Northern End of Brookie. It's fantastic with great viewing angles and has a transparent roof. It would not have cost that much money. Sorry i don't have a pic.

Ok thanks. I was wondering if you meant that little corner stand, but I see the right one now.

A roof over the Northern Terrace at Jubilee would get it more patronage I think.

A few years ago I was told that the Southern Stand at WIN was going to be replaced by a new stand similar to the Western Stand and filling the corner to join the two. I haven’t heard or seen anything about it since.

I’ve noticed there’s a lot more interest from fans of other forums in SGI matters than there used to be.

I think that’s quite good when your facing challenges.

More than a few of us are visiting the Panthers and seeing how they are coping in the post-smug world.

Their forum was a bit split last night about the crash and getting upset by its suddenness v unwavering support.

We don’t have that issue because we’ve been f**ked for years now!

Not everywhere, apart from Wests Tigers, I only frequent a couple of other forums of clubs that I like.

If you manage to pick up the vibe of SGI, you’ll be back to enjoy their footy journey with them.

As for poaching, I’ve given you my advice this morning, you’ve got 6 first graders who need to be dropped.

Hands off flanno too!
