The CEO works under the board?
Yes I know my point is that the start of a new CEO era should be the perfect time to get the brush out by the owners for the last vestiges of a failed era.

My guess is they won't because the Leagues Club would have to sanction it and we all know the cronyism that goes on between the two Boards. This problem will never be fixed with a dual ownership model. Both owners need to sell to a single, wealthy individual owner who is both passionate about the brand and also commercially-minded.

If the Chooks land DCE which looks highly likely, Saints should go hard for Sandon Smith. Smith / Atkinson halves combo would be very solid. LKT and those 2 would be a great crop of halves to have. No more of Flanno and Illias. I rate Sandon, especially after one of his first games in a semi up against the Sharks where they had Teddy, Manu and I think Walker off ( I think they were also donw a man or 2 for a period) and he simply took control and won them the game. I knew this kid would be good from then. DCE will definitely push him down the order with Walker and Savala there now. Saints are crazy not to get the ball rolling now. I heard Chooks are only offering around 400k and he knocked them back to extend.

Another good option is Fa'alogo from the Storm. He is a half in waiting and wasted there. They should be going hard after him if not Smith. The reason I brought up Fa'alogo is because I heard new expansion clubs may be targeting him so he must be available soon.
Exactly this.

Smith or Fa'alogo would be great with Atko...

I read that Sandon Smith rejected a contract extension at the roosters...

He is certainly not earning his $800k with current fitness that's for sure.
I think it is fair to say after reading media comments and reading between the lines......$650k max 2025 and 2026

and we have plenty of cap so its not overs when your unders some might say

but most importantly we had to keep stacking more than we can produce to be competitive and to continue to bring on board Atkinson, Holmes, Gutho, Cook and more like hopefully Lawson working out

But most importantly helping our juniors that are very promising to re-sign which they have this year

PLUS we have a plan B move them on if not bridging the gap over time and we have..........with a couple sticky ones we are no doubt working on

Luc is in that category also

I mean Egan starting Luc bench and Egan only a few games into NRL as a 20yr old.........clear message and at the same time a cushion for nurturing youth

i could be blinded by the light though :)

The Dom Young situation at the Roosters is fascinating. Clearly the Roosters realise Dom doesn't fit into their future plans and are clearing him to raise money to possibly sigh DCE.
How nice to have the resources that you can move anyone anytime!!
Dom Young was a player in demand before going to the Roosters with reports they were paying him 450K per season. Looking at the Toho/JAC/Lomax salaries - strongly suggests he must have been on more money possibly as a 3rd party payment. That leads to the following - what happens to a 3rd party deal when a player is cut. Is it paid out as a lump sum or via instalments over the original contract? What if the new team picking up Dom also instigates a 3rd party deal. Can a player have multiple 3rd party deals from different parties?

the good news:
Luch is a ballplayer
Stewart is a ballplayer
Loko is a ballplayer
Halagahu is a ballplayer
Stanley Trail is a ballplayer
Egan has an offload
Couchies both have an offload and so does Nick Tsougranis
So in a while we will be STACKED with superb, strong, ballplaying fowards ready to CARVE in this hew era of slim, fit, fast mobile forwards, get the backline right and in a season or 2 WE will be the new PANTHERS! ONLY BETTER....
