Somehow i see this as a precursor to a deal involving Lachlan Galvin.
Either direct - Galvin parked at Saints for rest of this year before joining the Dogs in 2026.
Or Indirect - Galvin joining the Dogs/another team this year and Saints getting a forward from that team as part of the deal.
I don't want Galvin short term will be shit to see him perform only to leave

Agree how good would that be. He's on $1.1 so maybe $1.3 gets him? There wouldn't be many clubs with the cap space we've got, Flanagan has penny pinched while he waits for the right man. Haas is the right man for us.

A lot of people saying the bears will want him but no way a new club should be chewing up their cap on one forward. They should be looking for depth like the Dolphins did.
1.3m won't be enough to get Haas. Factor in moving costs from Brisbane, extra tax, etc. You'd have to pay at least 1.5m if you're a club like ours, and even then I'm not sure we'd get him. I hope we do our absolute best to get him and throw decent money at him, but we also can't blow up our cap completely.

Definitely need to see the Liddle contract confirmed.. does seem like he was very much talking to other parties though.. hopefully we won out... that broncos game would have helped his mood.

If Liddle is confirmed it means less jigsaw pieces to be moved for next year.. its tricky enough as it is to get the spine right for 2026.

From X:

The Sporting Base - NRL® @BaseNrl
#NRL whispers @NRL Dragons plan to activate Jacob Liddle's 2026 option (mutual, club first) and offer in-form hooker extended deal through to at least 2027, if not longer
He was never going anywhere for 2026 with a club option. Club to activate at certain $ amount, if not then liddle can exercise his option at a lesser amount.
The mole just hates the Dragons and wants to cause a stir.
latest is the club will activate Club option

100% I honestly think we could offer him 2 million and we are no sure thing.. hes considered the best prop in the game and hes leaving mostly to find a club he can win a premiership at.. by all means we can make him a very good offer and at the very least make sure others stump up also..

We are very much in the market for a proper alpha prop.. there arent that many of them.. Haas is one of em.. so im sure we will have a crack if we cant land anyone else first.

Payne Hass - yes - no ? He is the type of player that needs a coach who knows how to crack a whip so as to perform at his peak .

Galvin Klein undoubtedly will be a great player in the not too distant future , however unfortunately I cannot see him coming to the Dragons .

As speculated by the vulture pack of the media he will be at the Dogs or Eels - preferably the Eels , just to let Phil Gould know that he is not the second messiah .

Haas will stay at the Broncos. I cannot see him leaving Qld. More chance of him going to the Dolphins or Titans where his brother is. Haas would be an amazing addition to Saints. Worth every cent if they offer 1.5mil. If Flanno can make guys like Faffita and Gallen premiership winners imagine what he can do with Payne Haas?

Eisenhuth was a great servant at Saints and wish him all the best for retirement.

If you are going to give a guy a 10 year contract for 1.3mil like Knights did to Dylan Brown, it would be for Isaaya Katoa from the Dolphins. That is the Guys Saints need for a premiership chance. But I cannot see him leaving. Atkinson/Katoa halves combo would by brilliant.

Agree but knowing our luck another club would just offer a 10 year deal also & trump us as a more desirable option.

Well pay him that then if that's what it takes. We have some of the best young forwards coming through, and he's exactly what we're missing, more important than a half in my opinion. I'd love to see the likes of Halangahu, LPT, Liu, Egan, Stewart, Couchman's etc following his lead. I still think we are in a strong position cap-wise so while others are counting us out I wouldn't, we're a serious chance here.

We need to make him a Godfather offer. Give him $1.5m per year and a couple of 3rd party deals.

This guy is worth it.

Not doubting what you are saying, however, where has it been said he wants to leave Brisbane to win a comp. Is this just journo speculation, or did he or his manager actually say this? The reality is that the Broncos are really not that far away from a premiership. Or rather, their current squad should at least be in the argument.

Sad news for Huth.

Middle defence was excellent last year which the club needed, helped the young blokes and good to see the club backing him after footy.

Great news for Liddle, been one of our best and playing his been footy with Cooks arrival.

Haas, who knows. We have the cash and worth every cent.
