What we have seen this year is that if Saints had an open cheque book to sign some great up and coming youngsters from anywhere we would be happy that if they brought in Stewart, Egan, Couchmans x 2, LPT and Halangahu. Luckily they did not have to look for these boys over the fence and they were in our backyard so will play with much more heart and desire for the club than a player from another club. These boys are the future and seem to have the right headset. They just need to add more experience there and all will be fine. Kerr is a good start.

Only glasses-you're doing well Gaz- Like a grunt in the US army, I count down glasses, false teeth, keys, medication and wallet before I get into my car these days- most times I'm missing at least one of those and yelling out to my wife before I head off. Oh to be young again.
I kid you not , but I also do exactly the same thing ! Each time I leave home I need to go through my checklists of ‘ must-haves ‘ .

Usually I have left without one item or other and what is even worse is that I realize only when I have started the car and then I must switch the engine off , unlock all the bloody doors at the back entrance so as to collect the missing item .

I am afraid that we are getting a bit long in the tooth redandwhite4evr ! But it is most comforting to know that I am not the only one . :)

Online headline that Daine Laurie is considering his future at the Panthers- strong in defence at full-back last night and at 26 probably still in his prime. Thoughts?

I rate Daine Laurie but for some reason he has not been able to nail down a spot in first grade at the Tigers and went back to the Panthers where he did not get a spot with all the turnover they have had. I would rather have a guy like him playing somewhere in the backline at Saints than some players that are already in the red V as he has some X factor about him.

What happened to Chevy Stewart? Is he still on the radar? If Saints don't land him then Laurie may be worth a crack to take the spot Chevy was going to take. He would certainly be a better fullback backup than Sloan or anyone else Saints currently have.

If Eels beat Warriors tonight which is looking likely it’s pretty certain we’ll finish 15th… not a result to be proud of with the eels and tigers likely to finish above us
i was thinking the same. can’t see parra losing to knights next week. rabbitohs need to beat roosters as well. (that’s if we win)

The Eels are building incredibly well for 2026. Ryles has done wonders in less than a year. Plus they are getting JDB next year.
Meanwhile apart from a number of young forwards - the Dragons are well behind the pace for 2026.
Remember Ryles wanted to come to the Dragons but they refused to give him autonomy and total decision making.
You have to shake your head:confused:

Whilst some of the recent established player recruiting at the Roosters has been below par the same cannot be said for their young guys (Savala, Toia & Nawaqanitawase) now firmly established in firsts. Their backline tonight was awesome. Every player in their backline far exceeds the equivalent player at the Dragons. Hopefully Anderson can change that.
If they stay fit - the Roosters can win the GF. Hopefully NOT!
Very interested to hear Robbo speak about Mark Nawaqanitawase - described him as 'highly intelligent'. Oh to have a smart winger or two. Last time we did we won the GF:D

With the confirmed news of Rava signing with the Castleford Tigers and linking up with Ryan Carr. (Hopefully he takes more )
Means to date we have 4 free slots for 2026.
I would assume illias WONT stay to play reserve grade .

Think we will know a lot more in the coming month or so, especially when our KOE Cup commitments are finished.
The most likely to go are Ilias and Sloan following the departure of Rava.
Lawrie appears to be the one who will still be on our books for 2026, unless he can get a gig in the English Super League.
