It's so frustrating seeing how clubs are handling contracts.

Can't get cranky if a player is still contracted however, if they are allowed to speak to other clubs then resign it seems that we are just a barging tool again plus then add the cooling off period.

It seems we have to reach the finals will what we have and luck with injuries to attract the talent to push for top four.

I just don't understand how we keep Lawrie and let JDB go...who has far more upside contributing to team performance. These decisions are mind boggling.. and yet we are told "stick with us...we have a plan"..

Nobody wants Lawrie.. how on earth we signed him at $600k I’ll never understand
JDB got two years we were only offering 1, he is past it anyway.
NAS is going to rugby more money, less fitness.
Tino is staying put.
Sense we might just have to lock down the juniors and wait a couple of years

Lawrie is free to go, problem is he is contracted and has every right to stay. No one else wants him, so we are stuck with him. Simple really.

It's not so much his playing first grade that is valuable. He could teach the young players about a will to succeed and not to cut corners. It's his aditude is that is worth keeping.
TBF, that is a SOO standard backline at the Roosters and even our best back (Val) would struggle to make their full-strength starting lineup.

If Saints land Metcalf that would be the best news. We can only hope. I am wrapt we have Atko as the Sharks did a great job wasting his years and letting us forget how good he actually is. Metcalf will complement him and they will make a super halves combo.

NZ Warriors have some strength in that area so hopefully an early release if he can get one to join in 2026. They are a smart club and replaced AFB for the Fish so they may have a half in mind ready to join if Metcalf is playing the homesick card like AFB did.

Last halfback we got from the Warriors had one arm hanging by a thread and needed a year out for surgery and rehab. I'd be getting a full body scan before signing Metcalfe. Wouldn't put it past those pr**ks to try and unload another player with major trauma injuries.

Had a feeling Sami wasn’t coming on Tuesday when they upgraded their young half, hopefully Metcalf happens but a lot can happen in 2 weeks before November 1 i feel a lot of clubs will be racing to extend their players beforehand.

As for Illias the only club i see him heading to would be Canberra to battle it out with Sanders and in exchange we potentially get Stewart.

Problem is nobody wants Ilias.. for all the fanfare and drama created by Anasta and the anti Flanno factions, Ilias is not a first grade half.
