I'm not overly concerned about missing out on Metcalfe tbh. Yeah, he would have been a good pick-up, but he comes with risk. He's had an Achilles, a broken leg and a torn hammy. Not saying he's not a star but he has risk. Just look how the Wahs fell off after he got injured (long term). All players come with risk, don't get me wrong here, but leg injuries in particular are worrisome (just ask CT).

I have no doubt we are specifically focused on '27. Players we are targeting are contracted 'till then.

If you listen closely to that podcast with Flanno, there are many clues to where our priorities are and what type of player we are looking at. There's also the clue for '26, particularly with regard to our young forwards.

We are also sternly focused on building our junior reserves. These are quality youngsters who will play 1st grade given time and their own desire. The signings we've announced in that area are tantamount to that.

Not sure that Tanah Boyd is available but the announcement that Metcalf is resigning with the Warriors is sure to loosen his (and Jett Cleary's) motivation to stay. Imo, based on his end of season form, he is way better than any half at our club unless of course we can convince DCE to come on down.
