Yeah pretty much what most of us suspected that there will be a few players available in November that we’ll go hard at and when we know the outcome of that we will fill the rest with either upgrades to juniors or one year contracts for blokes like Klem. Wish there could be more certainty but that’s just the way it is. If we can’t jag any big players for 2027 then we will have no choice but to back our juniors big time and hope for the best. Not the most uplifting outlook tbh.

Cleary, same age as Reed, signed with Warriors until 2027 AND the coach preferred Boyd to Cleary for the State Cup GF due to Cleary's inexperience. We all saw the bravura performance Boyd put in on the day against the Brisbane team (following his demolition of Ilias the week before).

IMO, Boyd is the experienced interim half we go after for 2026 until Reed is ready. Boyd is way better than Kyle, and despite being under contract for 2026, would be more likely to be released than Cleary.

Having said that, probably won't happen for all the reasons mentioned here already and Kyle (now an international from his PNG joke game) will probably be steering the ship once again.

Good with Ilias gone, Anasta will fade away too. There was nothing positive that comes out of that guys mouth related to our club. So he and his buddies at 360 can cover Roosters, Broncos and Dogs and leave us alone.

Regardless of how our halves perform next year, with Ilias we dodged a bullet. If he was that good that Anasta pushes, trust me, Wayne would have kept him.

From the above list there are 3 more players that need to be dumped:

1. Sloan. Club has given him option to negotiate but I have heard no news and I cannot see him improving his defense. Anyway I do not think he will be renewed for 2027.
2. Lawrie: had a great year 2 years ago from memory but has been in steady decline since then and that was that. Not fit enough. Does not spent enough time in the Gym. According to Wiki we managed 5 FG games from him last year!
3. Sele: With so many injuries, his best years are behind him. In the last 2 years he has spent more on injury list than play footy.
