The Rumours Thread

I believe we will go to that but let's be honest if Souths come close to that he will stay. I think our only chance is if we trump them on the length of contract I think it needs to be a 4 year offer.
They can’t afford much more than 700k that’s why he’s going to the open market. 900k should get the deal done if we go for him. But I reckon we’ll go for Tino first and if we miss out then Keaon will be the backup. Just hope we start firing shots. Gotta be more ruthless and aggressive

It would be silly to have a crack at Tino first chances are very low to land him by the time he knocks us back Keon could be deep into negotiations with rivals better to go all in now on a player that is at least a slight chance opposed to one that is no chance.

I agree but Shane Flanagan seems keen to target Tino

We should be smart about it and persue both and once whomever we land first is locked continue negotiations with the second if we can still afford to or risk losing out on both...

100%. Unless you’re from the area, we aren’t anyone’s first choice until we start winning some shit.

No chance for Tino unless it’s $200-$300k+ more than anyone else above us. He won’t want to lose his whole career losing. Let’s go hard at Kaeon if the above is true.
Keon you would just throw 950k at him Tino it would need to be 1.6m realistically

No big fish yet but

There are still critical parts of recruitment being work on now to create that second wave of emerging players that have serious pontential

this compliments the surge we have at the moment ie approx 8 plus home grown or targeted to play FG as they started to last year

two serious panther juniors Cornelius and Alexander Seumanu
a tiger Cooper Young?
a rooster Demetrious?
an other emerging rumoured?
maybe a big Va'a from Roosters 22yrs of age this Nov https://www.roosters.com.au/teams/nrl-premiership/sydney-roosters/xavier-vaa/
Nick Quinn for depth halves, FB and or centres/wing

Fale and Atkinson - lots of upside
Kerr - can do fast play of the ball role off the bench admirably and older more experienced / QLD SOO squad

moved on a stack of of players to bank serious $ for 2026/27 - some very difficult to do like Hunt, Lomax, Ilias, Rava etc

extending the contracts of players we really want to keep who have emerged and their market value has gone thru the roof

making sure players we are talking to now and managers can see a very healthy stacked pipeline of junior and emerging FG talent locked in to counter the new teams joining the NRL next couple years..........absolute premium dollars will be offered......out pricing many

I’m not expecting any big fish but I’d at least like to see a couple of good medium sized ones to go along with the junior signings or else it’s a failure on recruitment.

It would need to be $900K + a TPA. That is what Gus, Nick and co. Will be offering. Remember that the Bulldogs have said that they are still after a Tino type and have the money (contract + TPA). This is what we are competing with. The good news is Daniel Anderson knows this and hopefully he has spent his first period with us making sure we have beneficiaries that can tip in some spare change for TPAs. Without them, you wont get the marquee players

I think Keon is a South's guy through and through and it would take a lot to get him away. Also, if Bennett let's him go there is usually a reason for that. Seems like he would be a massive boost to our squad.

Agree , what I'm hoping is with not too many injuries , and the young blokes that were blooded this year and the likes of the the twin's we might just be building a forward pack like "Baths Babes" ........
