Reed is proving to be the best solution. He just needs to prove himself at first grade level.

So, a very good prop is what we really need; however, a classy fullback should also be targeted..
Respectfully Possm. Reed hasn't proved anything yet. He is just another young half full of potential.

Personally, I think he is the most well rounded of our recent prospects. But he has played one game of NSW Cup where they got hammered by the Bulldogs.

He needs to spend the year in Cup and he may be in line for a debut through injury or later in the year if his form warrants it. And if it is best for his development.

I have liked the rate at which they have brought him through. He is the same age as LKT but he has spent another season in SG Ball and a whole season in Flegg (which he is clearly a level above). But they have shown patience with him because he is a small body. He will get his chance to prove if he is above reserve grade standard this year. But if you throw him to the wolves in round 1, he might just end up as another Dragons half who had potential.

For those getting their knickers in a knot as suspected.
Does not sound like that big an issue to me.
The majority of players are back in preseason training now, with representative/injured players coming back on a staggered timetable.
He would need to undergo the complete standard physical prior to signing anyway.

We seem to be putting our recruitment on hold waiting for Reed to finally reach first grade… with no guarantee he’ll be the goods. Seems crazy to me we haven’t gone after another half because of this

Well I'm perplexed.

Reed is supposedly a long term prospect.

LTK had a whole season to prove himself and really didn't.

Atkinson was signed long before Watsford arrived.

Kyle proved he isn't a half.

We need a big boot.

We have no depth in the halves.

WTF are we doing???
I'm on record for posting that by getting rid of Webb, Haran and Millward and appointing firstly Watsford and then Daniel Anderson, this club has taken great strides to improve its front office effectiveness with recruitment and retention. Some have expressed frustration that our recruitment to date has focused on some KOE players but mainly juniors who will be playing Ball or Flegg with us next year. This includes an exceptionally promising young NZ five eight who attends an Auckland school which many All Blacks have attended.

I take the view that this is very Roosters like recruiting- Joey Manu would have been identified years ago via a similar process and went on to play in the Roosters juniors system- so hats off to Ando and Watsford.

Having said that however, I am becoming increasingly concerned that despite our improved "sales" team, the product we are selling may be a difficult one. The latest announcement that we are going with the untried Atkinson at half for next year and the ordinary Kyle at 5/8 with no experienced game managing half to be recruited as a backup, leaves me speechless.

Flanagan is digging an increasingly deep hole for himself, his team and the club by his blind support for his son.

His son is not that bad.

LKT is very young and didn't go that badly last year i would rather see him atkinson next year but it probably will not happen with the coaches son there would be better for him and the club if kyle went to the super league.

The problem with LKT is his defence. Kyle is much better in that department whilst I would say LKT edges him in attack. Defence is more important at this level. If he sorts his defence he should be a starter with what we have.

he needs at least another year in nsw cup to prove himself. I was at that bulldogs game, and without Jonah Glover we were a rudderless ship. Very embarrassing. I’m not writing the kid off but he needs time to develop.
