Every player has the cooling off period. Souths have had plenty of time to give a better deal. He has signed with us, the media are just doing media things and getting the fans uneasy for the sake of clicks. Media rubbish. Someone would have contacted souths about Keaon and asked if they would waive the 10 days. Souths management obviously said they wouldn't waive it and the journo has ran with that and made an article that has fans hook line and sinker.

Demonstrates really bad faith to come up with the money needed once the gauntlet has been thrown down. A home grown talent too. If it was me in this scenario (which is probably BS anyway) I’d consider it a really cynical thing to do and I’d ask for a release from the final year of my contract with Souths.

My take- for what it's worth because I have no contacts in South's inner sanctum- is that Souths have already offered their best deal to KK and Bennett's philosophy about props and wingers and what they're worth is a big part of that. If there is change in KK, it's likely to come from the pressure that's exerted from teammates and WAGs of teammates on his partner and family- KK being of Pacific Islander origin where family is paramount. No one outside KK would know how that's going to play out.
