Halangahu is a backrower. He’s played back-row his whole youth career. He does hit lines and is unstoppable close to the line. He’s a hitman in defence and defends his half’s very well. He will be our best future backrower by far in my opinion and one of the best players in NRL.Halangahu is a prop, plain and simple. He doesn’t hit lines, he runs hard and straight, at only 19 last year he looked like the widest player for our club. As he continues to grow, he’s a middle. The sooner he gets moved there, the better. So we can hold onto other second rowers on the up like nick T and Egan
Agree with this 100%Halangahu is a backrower. He’s played back-row his whole youth career. He does hit lines and is unstoppable close to the line. He’s a hitman in defence and defends his half’s very well. He will be our best future backrower by far in my opinion and one of the best players in NRL.
We should play other backrowers like Ryan Couchman in other positions to accommodate for the future best backrower at the club in Halangahu. A backrow of Halangahu and Egan is elite and future NSW origin.
Alexander Pupualii is another elite backrow prospect coming through but since he’s over 110kg he could transition to prop to even the forward pack out nicely.

Nothing is for certain.. but I think its also prop, or will be at some point... but I think we will keep him out of the position for as long as we can... so he doesnt get bashed by 120kg dudes while hes still a teenager..... if he stays 2nd row he needs to develop a reliable offload so they cant just gang up on him, wrestle him and get a slow play the ball as he fights for every metre.... i.e. either he is a genuine offload thread... and/or... he gets to the ground quickly after sticking his head thru and getting us a fast play off the back of his run.. things I thought I saw him starting to do late 2025.. its stuff he didnt need to do in lower grades..Halangahu is a backrower. Built close to the ground and for long-term bulldozing imo- a mini-Taumalolo is probably a good comparison.Nothing is for certain.. but I think its also prop, or will be at some point... but I think we will keep him out of the position for as long as we can... so he doesnt get bashed by 120kg dudes while hes still a teenager..... if he stays 2nd row he needs to develop a reliable offload so they cant just gang up on him, wrestle him and get a slow play the ball as he fights for every metre.... i.e. either he is a genuine offload thread... and/or... he gets to the ground quickly after sticking his head thru and getting us a fast play off the back of his run.. things I thought I saw him starting to do late 2025.. its stuff he didnt need to do in lower grades..
If I compare his style to our others... Nick is as almost as damaging in attack, but with much better footwork, you see him run into gaps and make tacklers miss... hence why he is able to handle centre still.... Egan not nearly as damaging but elite fitness doing all the dirty jobs that noone notices.. Sua is sort of a more agile 2nd rower who can also cover centre decently.... and CST is still a TBD he probably also has to play middle to play NSW CUP... Coutts also probably has to change to middle to get a position... and Jacob for me is a tractor who looks to run through contact and carry blokes.. and although he could do it on the edge.. I mean someone compared to him a shorter taumanalo.. thats def prop material... like epic prop material.. and thats what we need badly at this club, as we have lots of elite 2nd rowers.. but maybe hes not heavy enough for prop.. and does stay 2nd row.... probably depends how he matures in the next 2-3 years.. remembering hes 19.5yrs currently.. but it also helps him get a bench spot if he can cover both positions... and I think that goes for all of them.. we can probably carry 2 of them on the bench if they cover 2 positions 'well'..
Yeah, I think he is an edge, but value your opinion rev.Nothing is for certain.. but I think its also prop, or will be at some point... but I think we will keep him out of the position for as long as we can... so he doesnt get bashed by 120kg dudes while hes still a teenager..... if he stays 2nd row he needs to develop a reliable offload so they cant just gang up on him, wrestle him and get a slow play the ball as he fights for every metre.... i.e. either he is a genuine offload thread... and/or... he gets to the ground quickly after sticking his head thru and getting us a fast play off the back of his run.. things I thought I saw him starting to do late 2025.. its stuff he didnt need to do in lower grades..

Great video that. Cornelius is the centre right? How good is it watching a wrecking ball centre catch the ball, turn inside and head straight for the opposition front rowers, and make good post contact metres. And knowing he’s a Dragon. We really have done some good recruitment from the Penrith junior comp, these two plus Halangahu and I think some others as well. Is it Kyle Stanley that’s heavily involved in recruitment for the St George part of our pathway? He must have some very good relationships.
Yeah these kids are rated very highly
I believe Cornelius is 100Kg (as at July2025) and 193cm already..........now 17yrs old I believe are the twins (turned 17 late 2025)
Alex (his twin) was 119kg and now came back after ACL reco at 107kg and reports so far is that they are both leading everything at training SG Ball. Alex a forward and Cornelius a centre/wing.
Pretty scary to think that their ability size impact could have them pushing for game time in 2027 at only 18yrs of age like Halangahu and LPT etc did in 2025.
Anyone who is the know in the juniors has said they are top of the tree for years to come.
Our targeted junior outside the area players prior to Ando was very good
LPT
LKT
Halangahu
Alex and Cornelius
etc etc
There is a younger Halangahu also carving it up in junior reps. Luka I think is his nameGreat video that. Cornelius is the centre right? Yeah so I hear. For that to happen the boys parents must have moved area surely? If that’s the case it shows real commitment to their careers plus the club. There is a younger Halangahu also carving it up in junior reps. Luka I think is his name
Glad we dodged that bullet. Leopard doesn't change its spots bad for the cultureNot sure if anyone else has posted this.

KS has been doing an outstanding job for a few years now and we are starting to see real benefits through the pathways. Crazy to think he could / should still be playing. Could have been absolutely anything as a player and I often wonder about where the club would be if he, or others (Bud, Amone, etc) had fulfilled their potential at the club. It is why I think the KK signing is so massive for us; we had previously assumed the potential in the juniors would come to fruition but there is just so much that can go wrong. And we are finally figuring out that you also need to pay to supplement that junior potential with proven talent.Great video that. Cornelius is the centre right? It’s not like I’m unmovable in my position, and will be happy whichever. This does however highlight that it’s too early to try to decide everything. Some of the guys will exceed expectations, others fall off. Some will stay in the positions they have now, others will move around, either due to talent or team needs.
we need to assemble a group of talent and get them to fight it out, to inspire and push each other, to develop them- then we take the cream and the title

He was good at identifying the wrong ones let him go.Millward was always going to look in our backyard as their new pathways manager.
I am so glad to see the back of Millward. With Doust, Young and co. he was part of the old boy backroom deals that brought our club to it's knees. He was good at identifying the wrong ones let him go.
