With the Leagues Club still half in charge of the Footy Club it's also time for some of their long standing Directors to move on and acknowledge their part in the disaster of the last 15 years. Piggott, Doust and Young should be first out the door. There's a couple of others who don't seem to have any real football experience as well. If we have to be half owned by a pub then we should be holding them to account for the poor decisions and lack of leadership. The same people seem to be there behind the scenes no matter what happens.
I am sure that there is one gentleman who use to sell 2nd hand - used cars , yes that’s correct 2nd used cars who has been occupying a seat in the boardroom for a number of seasons now .

Now a used car dealer is akin to your local politician , downright bloody useless , I just hope that he is no longer
there , more so now that the Dragons are beginning to head in the right direction .

Instead of complaining why not do something about it?

If you are not a member of the Leagues Club, spend your $5 and have your voice heard.

Why not stand for election for the board or campaign on someone else's behalf.

Board members are voted in and if as so many on this forum they speak for the silent majority they can be voted out if people do more than simply complain anonymously on line.

Get more fans to join and band those fans together to actually do something.

This has been tried going back a long, long time.

It’s basically a closed empire and the ruling class and its laws to protect itself (amongst other things) are well thought out and strategised to keep it as such forever.

I will say, that it looks like the Chairman now has the numbers and will to push them to the side by the looks if it, in so far as the day to day goes.

Very hard to tell because they don’t provide any kind of Bios on the website and the board members themselves have amazingly low internet profiles leading me to believe that they’re not exactly titans of industry.

Thanks for the advice, however living in the Hills District makes it tricky for me to stand for election or campaign. And complaining anonymously online is pretty much what this forum is all about isn’t it? It’s a place for people to have their say, give their opinion which is what I’m doing. I’m raising awareness about the lack of footballing and commercial expertise of the Board Members of the company that owns half of our great club.

I believe that it was during season 2024 that I read the list of current board members, in fact there was a photo attached to the story also .

However my memory is not the best nowadays, I am sure the chap had the best intentions, but unfortunately for all involved , the team , club and fans the Dragons remained in the doldrums . Still there is now light at the end of the tunnel with our recruitment and coach signing a number of decent players that could very well be the start of a rise towards the top of the premiership ladder .

Are you thinking of Martin Newman?
He isn’t on the Dragons board these days.

A used car salesman if far the the problem. The individuals who brought our club to its knees were engaged in club politics focused on delivering promised favors in exchange for votes on agenda items determined by the Board. This resulted in a divide between St George-aligned members and Illawarra-aligned members being more important than the focus, instead of what is best for the Club.

Of course, the powerbrokers themselves were usually also a beneficiary of such decisions.

Possm this is so true. It is the age-old problem of sports administration. Petty-minded officials either in survival mode to protect their position or deliberately attempting to use their position for some kind of personal gain. With the NRL growing in revenue and importance, some clubs have succeeded in replacing these types of officials with independent, commercially minded experts with a range of complimentary skills, and on-field success follows.

We have made a couple of significant changes to the Football club officials at both executive and non-executive level, which is great, but more can be done. Very little has changed at Leagues club level.

Sydney club emerges as possible destination for Jahream Bula

The St George Illawarra Dragons have emerged as a club monitoring the future of Jahream Bula, with the Dragons understood to have held discussions with the Wests Tigers fullback in recent weeks.

Zero Tackle has been told the talks have been kept deliberately low-key, with the Red V doing early due diligence as they assess their long-term options at fullback.

Bula remains contracted to the Tigers until the end of 2026 with a mutual option in 2027, and there is no suggestion that a decision on his future is imminent.

However, the Dragons' interest is understood to be genuine, with multiple conversations believed to have taken place as the club canvasses the market.
The 22-year-old has quickly established himself as one of the Tigers' most promising young players since making his NRL debut, impressing with his speed, footwork and composure under the high ball despite the club's on-field struggles.
The Dragon's interest comes as the club continues to plan beyond the current phase of its roster.
While the Dragons recruited Clint Gutherson ahead of the 2025 season, there remains an ongoing focus on identifying long-term solutions in key spine positions.

At this stage, the Dragons are understood to be in an information-gathering phase rather than pushing aggressively for a deal, with Bula weighing up his future amid interest from multiple clubs.

With movement expected across the NRL fullback market over the coming seasons, Bula's situation is one to watch as clubs quietly position themselves for future opportunities.
