When we have finally signed a decent half or 5/8 why do you continue to suggest he plays fullback? He has never played fullback.
Or are you just trying to find a new spot for Gutho?
I see Gutherson at fullback as being a vulnerable last option in defense, esspecially from mid-season on.

If Atkinson nails it in the halves, then we will need to look to recruit another fullback. Kyle Flanagan at 6 is not a good option ata all hoever, Kyle at 14 woujd seem the most obvious fit.

If we could land Deardon, then a Deardon/Reed halves combeo would be our best option. Hence the Atkinson to fullback logic.

Anderson was there at the SG Ball trial two weekends ago vs Tigers. Temp in the high 30’s running his eye over the squads. He’s was very busy making notes and on his phone.

He’s very committed to his role and he knows what’s he’s doing.

Anyone prefer Basil or Haran doing this role again?
Thank God we've gotten rid of Millward, and let's hope Haran is not far behind him. I like Anderson as our Recruitment/Pathways manager very much. He got us KK and some bright young recruits, and seems very professional in the way he carries out his duties.

Jett Cleary was a player a few years back at the state reps series 2023 that Kyle Stanley seemed give a strong rap ie to be a player of the future

comments were a slower pathway development player than Nathan and was quite small in stature

Jett turns 21 in April this season and I wonder with Metcalfe etc extending at the Warriors if we are keeping our eyes on Jett ?

or Reed is our man of the future?

Mick Ennis big rap on Tu

Dan has shown strong appetite / thirst to be the no7 Mick said

but we will be more of a balanced attack via 1,6,7,9,14

mick was reluctant to say Akto is an out an out no7

he did say that Cookie is on fire and when Jacob is back Cookie will have more attacking time then last season

again Mick said “Stewart is a special” and he also said Halangahu is a weapon

Thanks GS- I think we're seeing the beginning of a new era of success for the Gold Coast. I know cynics will sneer and point to other quality coaches failing before him, but Hannay is a quiet achiever and instills confidence in people. He's definitely one of the reasons why Billy Slater has done well as an Origin coach.

yep unfortunately I think that roster is going to be a lot tougher to beat moving forward, lots of quality juniors, even matty johns is in there.. hate that there are no real easybeats anymore.. not until Perth comes in.

A new era of success for the Gold Coast? I doubt that very much. Tino is staying, good for them. He gave the market a red hot go and decided the money on offer wasn’t worth moving his family for. Hannay might be a good guy and a decent coach but I’ve seen nothing yet that leads me to believe he’ll be a high level head coach. Same with Benji at the Tigers, same with Ryles at Parra. Give us another year or two and I believe we will be streets ahead of all three.

Josh Hannay is another one of those rookie coaches who never tested himself in England. Like Ciraldo, Fitzy, O'Brien, Webster, Payten or Ryles. All talked up before they got the job but achieved nothing before. All assistants to good coaches but never a head coach. Ivan won his first comp after 15 years of coaching, It took Flanno about 6 years to win his first without going to England which is impressive. In this day and age clubs wants success quick and don't give you that long. None of these assistants will win a comp I feel in a while. The guy I feel that is the best of the rookie lot is Webster because he has actually improved players and not been given top players from other clubs. His first year was exceptional for a team that is chaotic in the Warriors. Hannay may have the same success as GC are similar. Webster took the challenge and implemented a gun system which seems to be working and not waited around for a big club with money and power to poach players from Sydney.

Robbo and Maguire won comps but coached in England. Willie Peters for me is the next gun coach in waiting with what he has done in England. Adrian Lam another and Brad Arthur will be better when he finishes in England. Maybe Saints previous Assistant Ryan Carr can achieve some success and comes back in the future. If he does I would rather Carr on the back of English success than another assistant to an NRL coach.
