Agree ... but he was never going to throw Mary under the bus....He did allude to this in his Clayton review when Mary was coaching saying sacking the coach won’t change anything.

Was always going to be the case....we need to get hammered ( unfortunately ) in the next 2 games for them to even consider change.![]()

So Flanno survives to fight another day, another few weeks perhaps.
Unfortunately our board has always been happy with status quo no matter how much destruction it appears to be creating. Was always going to be the case....we need to get hammered ( unfortunately ) in the next 2 games for them to even consider change.
Yes exactly Illusion and thank God the day is nigh.Don't worry too much about it now , because Flanno's days are numbered nothing he can do Will get him out of the hole he has dug for himself .........
The last time Gould got involved he supported Mary. How did that turn out?Gould is only making those statements so he can poach some of our young guns coming through. Every single statement he makes in the media has a purpose, he is a shrewd operator. He would love nothing more then to come through and take Reed, Halangahu, Loko etc. We need the right coach to inspire these kids, and improve them. Shane's attitude and grumpy demeanour doesn't cut it in 2026
I have to say, you make a good point. I have forgotten a lot of what you have pointed out.Dean Young won 2 from 4 in his role as interim coach. 1st game was a win against the Broncos 28-24 (Broncos were bad then) and the last win against the Storm in the final round. Melb squad that played consisted of Papenhuzen, Brandon Smith, Kamikamica, Christian Welch and the young Nico Hynes and Max King on the bench. Most were rested. The thing I liked most about this game is Young dropped Corey Norman and put in a young Jayden Sullivan who had a blinder. So Dean Young may not be the answer, but he has the ball$ to put in a youngster if the halves are struggling. So that in itself is an improvement if he does come in as I feel he will bring Kade Reed in just like he brought in Sullivan back then. He also had Ben Hunt play hooker so Young could have easily put Hunt at hooker, instead he had Clune and Sullivan in the halves. Feagai, Cody Ramsay and Jackson Ford played that game. Guys that Young coached to win a comp in the juniors.
Had Young stayed and not Griffin come in, I dare say Jackson Ford, Jayden Sullivan stay in the squad. Cody if fit possibly stays. Aitken, Sims, Clune who have since gone may also still be around. That was the sliding doors moment I feel for Saints. I feel Young would have persisted with the youth and who knows how would he have gone but I feel better than Griffin that is for sure. Instead they got Griffin in and he destroyed the youngsters like Sullivan, Jackson Ford, Sloan ,Lomax, and who knows Bostock and Garrick may still be our around.
I am not saying Young will get Saints out of this mess, but as interim he may at least give the local boys more of a crack than Flanno and definitely there will be no more nepotism. If anything I feel Young will put the Saints youngsters ahead of others.
the only way this is avoided is if we come out next 2 weeks and comprehensively belt our opponents. You and I know there’s a bees dick chance of that happening. We don’t have the speed or x factor to pull what the titans did last week and manly the week before.Yes exactly Illusion and thank God the day is nigh.
A minor correction - it was actually 2 wins and 4 losses under Young as interim coach. And no I am not related to Dean Young. Just my opinion.
Just look at our defensive stats for 2025 and 2026. Young is useless and only there because his father used to be chairman of the board.A minor correction - it was actually 2 wins and 4 losses under Young as interim coach.
