I know his credibility isn't great, but according to the Lurker our scouts have been in England recently looking for another mike cooper to add to our forward ranks..not too sure why with the likes of Russell Packer to be playing for us next season but I like the enthusiasm!

We actually ned to re-sign Matatuia and Flo.

If we re-sign Matthews and with Packer coming on board plus Masoe, I think we have the forwards covered.

Yep, a few recruitment people from NRL clubs were at the Magic Weekend. For those that don't know this is when all ESL teams play at the 1 venue over 2 days, so an ideal opportunity to see players & speak to them & agents in person. ( without the extra travel to different venues )

How does that work nrl ?

Interesting concept I must say and never knew it existed.

Sorry for being OT, but here goes :

All the Super League teams ( 12 in 2007, 2008 & 2015 or 14 from 2009 to 2014 ) are involved in games over 2 days at 1 venue. In the years with 12 teams, it meant 2 triple headers & with 14, a triple header & a quadruple header.

There have been calls to give it a go in the NRL, but with 16 teams, it would be tough to arrange a convenient round & venue. I think it would be best supported if held at Suncorp Stadium with a double header ( Friday ) & then triple headers on Saturday & Sunday.

The other option would be double headers across the Easter weekend, but I don't know how the one ground would handle 8 games in such a short period of time.

What a great day to exhibit the talent available. Very logistically cumbersome, but would be a real event / 2 days. Cheers for that.

What an awesome concept!

Just out of curiosity does anyone know approx how much damage a field sustains during an NRL match and how long it takes to repair? Is it possible to play 8 games at one venue across 3 days?

The magic weekends have mostly been played at soccer venues Manchester United /city Cardiff this year at Newcastle.Being at the end of the premier League season so ample time for ground repairs before the new season starts.

We definitely need to be recruiting. Creagh is near the end of his career. We have limited depth in the back row. We are losing Merrin. Ah Mau is playing really well but is no star. Same of Marketo's. Guys like O'Brien, Rose, Nutira etc have barely seen first grade. Our pack is going great guns this year but we absolutely need some new blood in 2015/16.
