It's not anymore.
The Hills headed towards the red on the weekend in a big way.
I've lived here for 26 years.
Never before has there been any sign of a major swing away from this blue ribbon seat. Until yesterday.
Alex Hawke had an 8% swing against his party this weekend. That's unheard of up here.
The Libs are clearly not on top of their changing demographic in this area.
They'll get what they deserve eventually.
The seat of Mitchell is no longer a white enclave, and that is and has been good for the region. It's called diversity, and our community welcomes it. And voting accordingly.
We don’t do diversity down here. Male and female and the Christian way. It’s so old school.

I actually feel a bit sorry for the guy.... stories coming out that their campaign team had their head in the clouds and Lib internal polling was leading them down a garden path, thinking they were actually going to make gains yesterday 😂.

Though if they knew they were in trouble earlier, it seems their plan would be to lean further right into their "culture wars" territory - without their dumb merkins that remain like Jacinta Price etc understanding that's exactly why so many Australians deserted them in the first place.

No they were campaigning on the same platform; nationalism and economic rationalism. Of course it's going to resemble the Trump campaign. They will need to campaign on it next time too.

The problem is Australian voters are fixated on events in the US and believe the alarmist reporting coming out of the media (America sux and it's Trump's fault). They don't want to believe the mining boom is over and we need to tighten our belts. Labor was able to continue promising that it isn't and we don't. Of course voters prefer that story.

That thread is even shitter than this one.

Don't feel for him at all, he has built a pretty decent property portfolio apparently did well in the share market as well 😉

Needs to take a few other libs with him now though one you also mentioned.

What’s wrong with Jacinta? And calling an indigenous woman a dumb merkin is terrible.

The sane washing of Trumps bullshit is unreal. He’s literally threatening to Annex Canada and Greenland but somehow that’s “alarmist reporting”.

Greenland has to belong to someone. If not the US, it'll be China or Russia. It's too weak for self-governance.

He's not threatening to annex Canada. The reason you think so is due to alarmist reporting.

She's a nutbag with her head up her own arse. Selfish individual, deluded toxic politician.

Price will start to be rated negative in focus groups following her MAGA hat stunt, her Trump slogan comments during the campaign, and her ungraciousness when interviewed last night - blaming the result on anyone but her own party's efforts. Once she starts to trend negative in focus groups, she'll find herself on the outer like Warren Mundine has.
And calling an indigenous woman a dumb merkin is terrible.
Why, when it's well deserved? It has nothing to do with her sex/gender or her heritage... neither of those factors should be a reason for certain dumb merkins to not get called dumb merkins, like any other dumb merkin would be. #equalopportunity

The people of Greenland don’t want to be a part of America so it’s not for anyone else to decide. Would you accept being part of America because China might invade us someday?

You’re falling for plausible deniability if you think there’s no threat to Annex Canada. The fact that you don’t think it’s inappropriate for the head of one sovereign nation to say to another that they should become one of their states is sane washing.

I absolutely would. How would it be a bad thing?

Many borders are arbitrary, including the one separating Canada from the US.
