You miss the point on defensive halfbacks. I am alluding to a halfback that can hold the line and also pass the ball as part of a team versus being the playmaker or gamebreaker.
Souths won a premiership with a halfback who was just that , a great defensive playmaker and team player, who seldom made breaks . Bob Grant.
We have had enough halves who could make breaks however were targetted in defense and could not hold the line.
As for Sandow , i like him , however most of the folks on here in the past have said , Souths could not win a premiership with Sandow as half. Think hard you wobblers.
My point is , if Souths with Sandow cannot beat parra on monday , then i agree with that thought.
The 1950's called, it wants it memories back.

I think you're the one who's missing the point.

The reason Sandow is no good for you guys is because you already have a lot of good atacking players and a lot of ordinary defensive players.

We're the opposite - we have a lot of good defenders but very few players with any defensive spark and our kicking game is gash.

For these reasons, Sandow is a poor fit for your club while he will be perfect for our club. Souths don't have enough good defenders to hide Sandow effectively whereas we do. Souths have so many good attacking players (nearly all on the left) that Sandow is wasted by constantly throwing early ball to Sutton. At Parra he'll get a lot more opportunity to run to the line. Even Hayne will spend more time running off Sandow's hip than calling for early ball.

boy , follks like to take things out of context. I am not saying that Souths would win a GF if they made it this year. I am saying that THEY DID in the past, 1955. We already have that record , it is repeatable by any side , however we HAVE DONE IT.
I would be happy to make the finals first , then it is game by game. However it can be done. all nought if we lose on monday, simple as that.

Forgetting those Grand Finals that Parra won?

you lost the thread. the discussion was team coming from outside of the pack to make the finals with successive wins and then getting to the GF and winning. like Souths would have to do this year.
parra had to win successive games to get last spot in finals in 2009 and then got to the GF and lost.
Souths in 1955 had to win every game in the second round to make the finals and then made the GF and won. that was my point , like this year , Souths will have to win their last 5 games ( 6 with saints) and then win all finals games to make the GF. My point is Souths have accomplished this feat in the past , so Souths have the history to do , still a very tall order requiring high betting odds.
As for winning GF , sure Souths won 4 in 60s/70s and Parra won 4 in the 80's.

Who cares what Souths did 56 years ago? It's irrelevant now. Are any of the Souths players who played in that match still alive?

I will leave it up to the new coach to decide on the halves for 2012.
I'm sure he's glad to hear he has your blessing

The current Souths players didn't even know how many Premierships Souths had won! That's why Rusty created the Book of Feuds!
