Looks like you are slowly getting it. Yes it all happened DURING the term of the contract that was deducted from the cap.
So he never had a concussion before his latest contract... Yeah ok......

Of course the NRL wont stand in anyones way of being medically retired for concussions. I have never argued otherwise. You are right you and Pou are really thick..
The NRL won't stand in anyone's way of being medically retired from a concussion..
That's the point..
Matto has played since. Then he took 4 weeks off in 2024 specifically because of concussion during which Parra sent him off for neurological testing. Parra have since signed a new Contract with him. This is a fascinating discussion - but surely you would know that it would be almost impossible to prove that the Kafusi tackle was the definitive concussion that lead to retirement.
Especially since Matto has since played.
It is not a "duty of care" issue in any way. If Ryan Matterson, Boyd Cordner or any other player is having serious concussion issues, IMO they should retire immediately. Life is short but long enough that CTE would be a bitch. It is not a duty of care issue because if they retire, the player gets paid in full anyway, either by the club or the insurance company or a bit of both. And even if the NRL could prove that
Wouldn't they then be under a duty of care issue where they let a player who should have retired play on (and so it might be in their best interests to say 'new injury medial retirement')
He had 4 weeks off for concussion and testing in 2024. It is a pre-existing condition that Parra knew about when they signed him in 2025.It would seem a fairly open/shut case of 'new concussion/ medical retirement'.
If that is the current issue (or is it his back?)
Pea heart was a pre-existing condition that he had when he signed his Contract with the Tigers otherwise we would have got the cap exemption clearly.Who knows - he may just be a pea-heart?? Unfortunately that isn't a new medical issue, he clearly developed it at Wests and brought it here with him.

They do have a rule though that determines whether the salary comes of the clubs cap. Whats the point of having a rule.
Every player gets a concussion, its only an issue if its bad enough to prevent a player playing or becomes recurrent, which happened during Cordners final Contract and happened during Mattersons second last Contract. ITs not complicated. So he never had a concussion before his latest contract... Yeah ok......

The only question is whether Parra would get the money off the cap and under the rules of PCR 86 (Medical termination), after Parra signed him in 2025, less than a year of him having a month off for concussion, neurological testing, 4 years after the Kaufusi tackle, 6 years after leaving the Tigers because he didnt think the Tigers treated his concussion issues properly.....yeah nah.

Good question. When was the last time a player medically retired from the NRL due to concussions and was covered in the club's cap?

Did Cordner take an extended break from the game due to concussions prior to signing his last Contract? So Roosters resigned Cornder in 2018 for a 5 year deal and he didn't suffer from a concussion prior? Jake Friend?
Good question.
I know a better question (more pertinent).
When was the last time a player had recurrent concussion to the point where they had to take an extended break from the game and have neurological testing.....then the club signed them to a new contract......and then medically retired them for concussion and tried to get the contract they signed after neurological testing taken off the cap?
That would be a shorter list I'd imagine.

The PO for 2026 is a new ContactWhen did the club resign Matto (2022 till end of 26) when did Matto get the tests(2024)
The PO for 2026 is a new Contact
Serious question Doc. Why?If it's bad enough... We know absolutely f**k all on head injuries...
Forgot you're an expert in brains... Especially when you don't seem to have one ..
You are still arguing and comparing a head injury to another type of injury which is completely wrong..
Of course its a new Contract. Did Matto get a medical? Is there consideration on both sides, is the Contract actionable? Not a new contract it's an option until the end of 26
Serious question Doc. Why?
Why is a head injury any different to a knee or shoulder? Because the repercussions are worse? I'd agree with that but its still an injury.
I know ex footballers who cant lift above their shoulders or who cant walk properly or without pain due to injuries and this will be life long and life changing injuries. I agree that damage from concussions and CTE are similarly and worse in their life changing aspects, but still an injury. Every injury, be it a knee, shoulder, head is going to have consequences for a player post career and the players should be constantly be carrying out a cost / benefit analysis as to whether they should continue. IMO if Matterson is having ungoing issues from concussion he should retire immediately and be paid in full. Its not difficult.
The mechanism for concussion based head injuries are no different to a shoulder or knee with many smaller impact causing smaller injuries and weaknesses that are cumulative until catastrophic.
For the THOUSANDTH(give or take) time, I am NOT arguing that Matterson cant retire due to concussions (IMO he should) but IMO under the rules Parra shouldnt get a cap exemption.

He likely cost himself money once Brown decided to leave, injured or not.Just as well Moses hurt his foot after signing his massive new deal.
Glad to see you can discuss a subject that has nothing to do with you or your loved ones without resorting to childish personal attacks. R U OK?Let's ignore the rest as you are an ignorant idiot.
Yes. As I have clearly explained.Under the rules that allowed Corderner to retire and have his salary exempt from the cap?
Jake Friend? The Roosters player who had to medically retire due to recurrent concussions, who got paid in full for his Contract sum and for who the Roosters had $0 deducted from their salary cap?Jake Friend?
