The Norfolk in Surry Hills/Redfern is currently my favourite pub in the city, had my birthday dinner there two weeks ago on three dollar taco night. Good food, cheap piss as far as city prices go and they have Cherry Coke/Dr Pepper/Grape Fanta behind the bar.

I also love The Flinders Hotel, The Beresford, Kings X Hotel(since it has been refurbished), Kinselas, Hunky Dory Social Club, Shady Pines, Low 302, Pocket, The Courthouse in Newtown, Beach Road Hotel, World Bar, Hugos, Goldfish(imo best cocktails in Sydney) and Dr. Pongs.

I am at the Norfolk a lot. When I had resigned from my old job and was waiting for my new job to start me and one of my mates who works nights used to be in there every day pretty much.

That may very well be the one. It's right near King St, old fashioned stone church with big trees and old gravestones in it.
Church Street runs off King Street.

It was taken for granted for years but it really is a great spot. And a great for a walk after dinner. Very silly worrying about old grave stones.

Not worried about the gravestones. Just that wary feeling you get when you're in a place that has a dark history...

Yes, you already alluded to being burdened by the knowledge that people die. But you miss the point.

Camperdown Cemetary is an historical park and the mourning has long moved on. There's nothing dark about enjoying the space... in fact the opposite is true.

I would like nothing more than to know my headstone was being used as a slip fieldsman in a game of graveyard cricket.

So you went on a date and only wanted to talk about the sadness of the place? I'm guessing there was no second date. Talk about missing the moment.

Well....i've had a fairly solid 10 years on the pub/bar scene, so thought it was time to put back in and come up with my list of where is great and where is not so great. Naturally with these sort of things, they are going to be subjective, and will largely depend on personal experiences there, music, range of beer, clientele, security, service etc. The main criteria is as follows:

- Had to have had a drink there in the last 5 years
- Is known as a drinking venue
- Is within a 5-10km radius of the city

Interesting to see how this list stacks up or a ranking (perhaps top 5-10 each way) of your favourites and not so favourites:

Do any of the pubs on that list have afternoon (4-6pm) topless waitresses / raffle girls......Saturday lunch time 12-2pm ?

Anyone have a top 10 Sydney pubs regarding that criteria.......

No date. Just a few of us were in Newtown after TAFE for a drink then this chick and myself went down to the cemetery. She was one of those off the wall types, the child of a Byron Bay hippie couple. She said she liked to go to the cemetery there sometimes. I didn't mention that an unsolved murder had taken place there once, but as shady and peaceful as the place is by day I could imagine it being slightly menacing of a night-time...
