You you cared to watch a game once in a while Laurie, you would know that
phyical imtimidation and tough play are key factors in Lote's game.

He does it at every level of the game, I've seen him pick up and nearly kill
a young bloke that was about 30kgs lighter than him when he was playing for
West Harbour.

It shows them that he's not to be messed with defencively, just ask Tom Vandell.

Key words: OFF THE BALL

Use your eyes.

Sadly he was outdone by Fisher's "kick a drop goal from 70 metres rather than score a try" game plan on Saturday night.

Yeah you'd think Fisher had spent the last 10 years coaching on the high veldt or something the way they were going for droppies at all costs.

I couldn't believe it when the Brumbies board renewed his contract for 2 seasons... what did he do to deserve the renewal? Oh that's right, miss the finals for 2 consecutive seasons.

And now he's being touted as the next Wallabies coach?

Isnt that the way thought it seems to be a sure path to the Aus job if you coach the Brumbies.

MacKenzie should get it... the Waratahs have overachieved over the last couple of seasons... no way they should have made the final in 05 with the squad they had. Then again, they've got even less this year so if they even make the finals, it will be a massive achievement.

Mind you it's funny how much Queensland have improved already isn't it? Hmmm...

Indeed it is. Jones should never have been sacked, those who were on this board at the time may remember how vocal I was in support of him.

I would kill to have Jones back at the Brumbies.

David Nucifora is the bloke that the Bummies should never have sacked.

When you let your scrum half run your club your in some trouble.

Wow, ill-informed as well as deluded.

It was a bunch of senior players, with I believe Joe Roff the key player.

Sure, Nucifora probably shouldn't have gone. On the other hand, if he didn't go, Mortlock, Paul, Gerrard and a few others would have.

How the f**k would you know the inner-workings of the club you clown.

Joe Roff was made a scapegoat for that whole situation because
he was leaving the club.

And look who was captain of the Wallabies when Eddie Jones got the ar$e.

As for the three players you would lose.

A pie-chucker and two injury pron wankers are no big loss.

Didn't watch the 2nd half... but first half their were a few shockers. Hewat was mesmerised and his defense was shocking, the forwards missed many tackles with soft arm tackles, and the centres looked were too slow laterally and didnt offer much in attack.

How'd Beale go in the 2nd? Showed great attacking flair but was found out in defense in the 1st.

The Cheetahs are quite a good team. Full credit to the Waratahs for coming back at the end, how about Hewat's last kick?

Anyway, the problem lies not with the Waratahs, but the fact that their fans still seem to think that they're one of the top teams in the competition. Funny stuff. Fact is, any team that loses 5 Wallabies for the start of a new season is going to struggle, and until Waratahs fans realise that and adjust their expectation accordingly, there's going to be a lot more disappointment to come this year.

That was in the first half, how'd he go in the second?

Tahs have some horrible centres running around, no wonder why they go after every League player!

Waratahs have wilted

By Peter Jenkins
February 20, 2007

COACH Ewen McKenzie has dismissed suggestions the Waratahs are a spent force in Super 14 as they battle an injury plague and a lowly position on the ladder.

After two losses from their first three matches, the Tahs are languishing in equal 10th position and could sink lower this weekend when they take the fourth-round bye.

But McKenzie, now with five Australia forwards on the sidelines, remained upbeat as the Waratahs headed home from South Africa.

"Obviously we're concerned about the amount of young guys we've had to bring in," he said last night.

"We're exposing a lot of people. But you can only look at it in a positive way and say 'well here's the chance to find out what these guys can offer'.

"Sometimes through other people's misfortunes you can find a bit of a gem. The problem we do have is that every week you're playing against experienced teams."

McKenzie said his confidence that the Waratahs can recover to reach the finals was genuine and soundly based.

"We're not out of it, there's still 10 games to go and we've got seven at home," he added.

"The other reason is we could have won both of the games that we lost (to the Sharks and the Cheetahs).

"If we'd been a little bit smarter, a little bit more effective, or hadn't been as loose at the front end of those game we could have won them.

"So we're not far away, we're certainly not despondent. You potentially lose confidence if you don't win but we've had our chances in those games.

"We would have liked to be further up the table at this point. But look at the competition, it's bloody tight. There's a lot of teams not where they would have budgeted to be after three rounds."

Western Force, which travels to Sydney for a round-five clash with the Waratahs on Friday week, is not one of them.

Rebounding from an upset week-one loss to the Highlanders in Perth, Force enjoyed twin triumphs on its road trip to South Africa.

It beat the Stormers in Cape Town and, even more impressively, pipped the Bulls at their Pretoria fortress.

"I thought they played really well," said McKenzie.

"To win at Loftus is a great result. The Bulls, like the Cheetahs, must have thought after 20 minutes they pretty much had the game in the bag.

"They had a couple of tries and it was all going hummingly. But there was great resolve shown by Force and they snuck a win where we squeaked a loss.

"At the same time, I'm pleased with the effort our guys showed. We'd just like to get another win.

"I think our luck will turn if we just keep being persistent. So it's a good test of character at the moment."
