The time has come to do something

Listening to Costigimp today was the final straw, he is hard enough to listen to when they are winning but when down he is unbearable.

As league fans in this country, we deserve a lot better than we get dished up in the commentary. We need to get the ball rolling and start letting Sky know exactly what we think of it, and how embarrassing it is as a New Zealander that we send this standard of commentary out overseas, the Aussies think we are joke.

Anyone have the email address where we can send our thoughts to Sky ?

And Ropati as well. Asking Cooper Cronk how his team mate Danny Lima went. I thought Jeff Lima was his team mate.

But seriously, my partner is Maori and she said for all the years that he has been calling games in New Zealand you would think they would have a pronounciation coach for him with the Maori names in the team

Whatuira is Far-2-ear-ra not fat-2-era like he says

From what I remember it was low quality, but to be totally honest I was so ****ing shellshocked at the game itself the commentry squad could have been in the lounge with me screaming in my ear and I wouldn't have noticed! ;-)

You're complaining?

f**k, we had "We have three or four teams sitting back on their couch who would beat this mob" and "the problem with New Zealand is, and always has been and will be [insert cliche or generalisation here]" and "I laughed at people all week who thought New Zealand could challenge this Australian side" Phil Gould commentating. It was the absolute pits.

Costigan pronounces Maori and PI names 10 times better than any other Aussie commentator

But they are still not pronounced right. Sky TV are catering for a New Zealand market and they cant pronounce New Zealand names. bullsh*t mickey mouse outfit.

Rightio, my email is sent, i left off the pronounciation part, i urge all other people sick of what we are getting dished up to do the same. My email is below

Am just writing to express my disappointment at the standard of commentary at this current time.

Costigan and Halligan try hard, but they just don't seem to have the natural elements that all good commentators have. The commentaries are full of cliches, and the overuse of the terms "Oranges" "Get out of my way he says" "Boarding Pass" "Fish n Chip Paper" and "Johnny on the spot" make them damn near impossible to listen too. A lot of the comments made during the games are irrelevant, give the wrong information, or are full of a personal bias from one of the crew

I go to a lot of Rugby League websites and forums, and on all of them, including NZ ones, we are ridiculed over the standard we are putting out, and how unprofessional it is. It is embarrassing at times being a kiwi with the poor level of commentary we put out, and the Aussies don't miss a chance to make that known after a game, with clangers from Costigan and Halligan talked about regularly after matches

I know a lot of people that find them unbearable, and mute the TV to tune into the Radio Call.

I think as a country, and a pretty professional TV station, we can put on a lot better broadcast. If we are going to spend money to fly someone over from Australia, then go for the best, and bring back Graeme Hughes, rather than spending the money for a second rate caller. If not, why not give some locals a go, Allen MacLaughlin on Radio Sport is good, Dale Husband does a reasonable job and even Stephen McIvor has gone ok calling the Lions matches.

After 6-7 years of putting up with what is on offer, i thought it best that i get the thoughts off my chest and let someone know what the general league public are thinking, and that is that we can produce a lot better than what it currently on offer.

Time to bring back Hughes! Watching old games on DVD makes you miss the guy! Even Lowies over the top 'This player is the best in the World!' every few minutes went well with Hughes as a niggly comments man.

Gus Gould does annoy me with his constant 101 reasons why NZ (Or GB, depending on the test) sux and Aussie is vastly superior and could send their 112th team and still win...but fact is the only way to shut him up is for our team to met their potential a bit more and be more consistant. One win every few years will not do it
