It is time for the Australian Rugby League community to stand up and make some changes to the face of International Rugby League.
For too long we have sat and watched Carr, Love etc bumble from one f**k up to the next.
The latest balls up, however should spell the death knell of these gooses.
The balls up concerns the running of the Tri NAtions test in Sydney Australia later in the year.
The NRL offered their assistance in researching, planning and marketing for this event and it was accepted by the ARL. The NRL's plan was to stage this event in Melbourne to help break the sport in whilst another great sporting event was just finishing, the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
The ARL decided they new best by ignoring the NRL's feedback and offer of help by sending the game to Telstra Stadium. No reason was given as to why Telstra.
The next thing we know is the NRL are asked if the ARL can utilise ad space the NRL have purchased to drive ticket sales for the event. Fine, this too is provided even after the ARL had ignored the NRL's position on where the match was to be staged.
As it stands, the game is going to be an ABSOLUTE DISASTER because ticket sales resemble sales for an NSL soccer match at the moment.
Fast forward to October to post Grand Final and the crowd has swollen to 10 - 15 thousand due to the free ticket give away for the Kids to Kangaroos promotion and where will the international game be? The press will have a field day, 83,000 two weeks prior to watch two suburbs play and 60,000 less to watch our national team. f**k it will be a free for all.18 months of brilliant work by Richard Lewis in the UK will be ruined. In the UK they have been selling tickets for a fair while, leveraging opportunities to launch uniforms that have sold in excess of 20,000 units, meet the player days for fans etc etc. What has happened in Australia to promote the game? A couple of ticket offers!?!?
So when the smoke settles and the team moves on for the rest of the tournament with Carr & Love on board who faces the music in this vcountry? That's right the poor old NRL.
The other thing is that the ARL are not answerable to the NRL, they are the NRL's boss. So if the event goes to sh*t, and unless something drastic happens then it will then how is Carr & Love held responsible?

The only way these two arseholes can be removed from their positions is if they are voted out by the clubs.
Surely we can petiton our clubs to force these pricks out of the game? They are parasites who travel along drinking piss and making dickheads out of themselves.

Make no mistake, these two pissants are a cancer on our sport, the time has come to crown Richard Lewis as the new head of the RLIF.

Then something needs to be done. Let's email the clubs, even the federal Department of Sport & Recreation maybe.

A concerted push needs to be made. The 'job for life' mentality which pervades RL in this country has to stop.

To me the ARL seems to be primarily an extension of the NSWRL with small overtures to placate the QRL. With that in mind I feel that dropping the two of these mentioned clowns, Carr in particular would be a bigger ask than simply having clubs pushing the ARL. Directing our annoyances at the clubs might be a start but without appropriate structures in place we'll only see a continuation of current problems almost regardless of who is in office.

So let me see if I've got the money flow and structure right - The ARL are 50% owners of the NRL, with the ARL being owned by the NSWRL and QRL, who in turn are financed by the NRL via TV. Am I right in this or have I missed something? If I didn't know better I'd think they were a money laundering operation rather than a collective of bumbling clods under the media.

Technically the ARL is halfowned by 2 groups

1 - NSWRL
2- ARLF

im not sure what exactly sure what the secon one is

if you want a better explanation read the superleague case

The problem is that the ARL, NSWRL and CRL are basically run along the lines of how football used to be run in the 60's.

Basically what is needed is a soccer style clean out of those adminitrations. Thats the ONLY way anything would ever get fixed.

Eh...no I think you have it the wrong way around, the ARL Foundation, or as it is now titled, ARL Development is 50% owned by the Australian Rugby League and 50% owned by the NRL. It is the school/junior development arm of Rugby League designed to start uniting the different groups at the lower levels to achieve what we all want, more people playing League, and so far its been working.

The ARL is run out of the NSWRL headquarters. It uses all of NSWRL's resources, and it heavily NSW influences, this is highlighted by the fact the majority of the people in power on the board all hold the same positions in the NSWRL.

The ARL's power positions are decided by the ARL Board, which is about 55% NSW and 45% Queensland. Not everyone on the board is club related.

And if you thought the ARL now is incompetent, what about that short reign of error when the QRL was in charge? Talk about lunatics running the asylum.

Head of the ARL at the time John McDonald "forgot" to invoice the major sponsor, so the ARL was short a few million dollars. Their director's malpractice insurance should have paid it out, but I don't think they ever made the claim. It took legal action to get the NSWRL back in charge.

No

sorry we were both wrong

THE ARL is made up of NSWRL (50%) and Australian Rugby Football League LTD [ARFL] 50%

basically when the arl was incorporated it was pretty much the nswrl with another company (arfl) set up so that it wasnt all NSWRL.

Problem is the ARL are in fact the NRL's bosses. So the NRL can't do a thing and I can't see any of the clubs sticking their heads out of the sand.

The cleanout idea is the way to go but do you honestly think either of these guys are going to give up their lifestyle? Jet setting around the place every couple of months to chair meetings abou the international game. sh*t no. It is f**king frustrating.

Ring the NRL and ask them how much say they have over the ARL. The NRL's charter is the national competition only. The ARL run the State competitions, the CRL, the Juniors and the development of the game. Who is answerable to who here? News don't have a say on anything other than 50% of what happens in the national competition.

I think its impossible to be black and white on the issues of who is in charge of the game in Australia.

You could say the NRL....but its 50% owned by the ARL.

You could say the ARL is in charge, but the ARL answeres politically to the QRL and NSWRL.

You could say the NSWRL.....but they answer to clubs.

And there is the problem. There is no structure to the game. No on is in charge.

With the NRL you basically have a modern day sports administration.

With the ARL, NSWRL and CRL....you have an 1800's style political system in place. You can be a terrible administrator in the ARL....but as long as you keep the right people happy, you can die at your post.

I think there are more than 3000 tickets sold. I bought 10 tickets during the week and from my discussions with the ticketek lady, section 108 is sold out, 107 has a few rows left, 106 has plenty of seats taken, some category B sections are sold out. Sure It would be great if the stadium was half sold already but I get the feeling that around 6-8000 seats may already be sold. I am still confident of a 45000+ crowd.
