Brady goes down and Cassel can pretty much step in a not miss a beat. Cassel aint that good... Manning could take me and turn me into a 1000 yard receiver.

And then he'd either throw you under the bus after a loss or choke in an important game.

Are you kidding? First Offensive player I would pick to start a franchise would be Manning.

I've said this before, Manning isn't good in play-offs. Brady is. Mannings play-off win percentage isn't good and he only won 1 superbowl despite the Colts dominance. Brady had average receivers for his first 2 superbowls and it was only until Moss and Welker came that Brady had good receivers.

I Love the pats and believe brady is a brilliant player but manning is just a touch better..... but then again if brady had the recivers manning has had for his whole career then this could be a totally different statement

Brady has won championships with recievers Branch , Troy brown, david givens, Gaffney and a te Daniel Graham

other than branch the rest are rather average

But then you could say the pats had an elite Defence while colts while still good not on the pats level

(Agreed with the bloke above even though i had this here 25 mins before it went through)

this question wont be answered for another 4 - 5 years until they retire

Manning can win more rings with the roster he has now.... but if the pats draft well with there somewhat 50.000 draft picks next year wcoudl go to the early 2000s DOM

Manning is definitely better than Brady

Brady's a star player dont get me wrong, but he's not Payten Manning.

This.

Its been said time and time again, but the year the Colts won the Superbowl the defence stepped up and played well. Other years they have been sub par, especially in the playoffs.

Patriots defence when they won 3 Superbowls? Yes one of the best defences of all time. Who cares what receivers Brady had when they won the Superbowl - look at the defence.

Cassel is proving he is nothing special with the Chiefs, yet makes the playoffs with the Pats.

The Colts have had Robert Mathis and Dwight Freeney, along with Gary Bracket, Bob Sanders and Kelvin Hayden. They've had a pretty f**king decent defence so I don't buy that crap. Especially when you consider that Manning has had weapons such as Edge, Harrison, Wayne and Clark.

Cassel has been playing well for the Chiefs this year. So well, in fact, that they are leading the AFC West. Cassel had 4 years to learn the Patriots playbook and system and was mentored by Tom Brady, of course he was going to have a decent season.

No sh*t, the defence and special teams got them to the Superbowl after Manning choked against the Ravens. 150 odd yards, no TD's and 2 interceptions. Without that defence Manning would still be ringless.

With 20 players left, Id think some of these guys are about to fall in line:

1 Jim Brown
2 Jerry Rice
3 Joe Montana
4 Johnny Unitas
5 Walter Payton
6 Lawrence Taylor
7 Reggie White
8 Barry Sanders
9 Ronnie Lott
10 Dick Butkus
11 Deacon Jones
12 Ray Lewis
13 Peyton Manning
14 Anthony Munoz
15 Mean Joe Greene
16 Otto Graham
17 Don Hutson
18 Bronko Nagurski
19 Ken Houston
20 Sammy Baugh

In no particular order.

Cant believe I left off Brett Favre. One of those other greats isnt making it. Maybe Ken Houston.

As a Colts fan I think I remember a bit more vividly than you playoff meltdown after meltdown from the Colts defence.

Lets not even get started on the Colts O-Line in the playoffs letting Manning get beat down as well as non existent run blocking.

Sure Manning did not play great against the Chiefs or Ravens in the Superbowl season but that is why the Colts won that year - because the rest of the team stood up and did not force Manning to try and win all on his own like has happened much of his career.

Edge and Harrison are so great that Edge did nothing in Arizona and no one wanted Harrison. Wayne is so great that the Colts won the AFC Championship last year with a largely invisible Wayne. Guess we will see how good Manning is without Clark this year but this is not the first time Clark has missed significant playing time.

The reality is that sure Manning's weapons are solid players but they are not stars and not pro bowlers without Peyton.

No one wanted Harrison because he was involved in a shooting.

And you had Edgerrin for 7 years. That's about the right lifespan for an NFL RB.

Brady's weapons weren't even pro bowlers.

Brady's weapons weren't even pro bowlers.

And Manning is doing just fine without a star running back.

Troy Brown made the Pro Bowl as did Corey Dillon, Matt Light, Mankins, Knoppen, Welker. Plenty of defensive stars made it too.

The Colts defence is built to play with a lead. If Manning and the offence don't come out on fire we all know the Colts have been known to often have one of the worst rushing defences in history.
