Anyone getting to Quito needs to get themselves a personal samurai. I had my camera with all my Galapagos, Machu pichu pics lifted but reading some stories now I'm lucky I didn't fall prey to one of the others forms of thievery such as bucket of poop tipped on head from a high to onset confusion beforehand

You deserve it for stopping me stealing Fabian Goodall off you!

Nah, that's shit. One of the boys we wound up hanging out with a bit in Vietnam had his camera stolen. He didn't give a shit about the camera itself, but he'd been in Asia for six months and had most of his Laos/Vietnam memories on there....poor bastard was devastated.

On my birthday too  luckily the missus bought a bag of beers for me to soothe my woes. Will have to get super silly in Columbia to make up for dances with llamas and swimming with sea lions..

Haven't seen much of Fabian but I'd be curious to talk trade..

And finally all done in the USA in a couple of months. Its been a very interesting 4 years. We saw blizzards, hurricanes, our first child and er... A riot.

Back in oz in august, 3 weeks in Japan beforehand. Heading down to a small fishing village in the south, can't wait.

How's the Phillipines?

Loved it. Just landed back in HK an hour ago. Got the day here then leave for Sydney at 11.55pm HK time.
I will post a more detailed trip report once I am home, but I have to say that I will treasure the few days I had in the Philipines for a long time. Such wonderful, hospitable, happy people.

My favourite country so far. If I didn't have a credit card to pay off, I'd be over there living off whatever I could make from my writing.

Pretty exciting news today.

My boss has just finalised a partnership with a safari company in Namibia, so I'm getting flown directly from China to Windhoek to see what they have to offer. Pretty excited to see Dune 45 up close and see a country I had no idea I'd be visiting a week ago :)

Sydney's international terminal is shit. No food if you don't want organic, grain fed quinoa sandwiches or beluga caviar.

I'd kill for access to the domestic terminal's food court.
