I'd hazard a guess to think that the reality is that the current coaching staff are trying everything but for many reasons have been unable to make the impact they aspire to.

We face much more fluid and imaginative attacks these days. Thanks to improved physical capacities, planning, better techniques and execution our power game is not as effective. We can match and get over the top of teams but we lose focus and fade. Our backline is second rate and they distrust the forwards likewise the forwards will work hard all game only to see the backs fizzle and self destruct at crucial times. So it's mental mayhem with everyone looking over their shoulder.

And we know that the coaching staff have invited players to leave which is a bad sign and that some players want out. They can go so far as I am concerned. They can join those grubby cowards abandoning the tigers for a few pieces of silver.

The magic formula of each lad to click on game day as well has proved far too elusive. Three years to find that formula without any outcome and the sad thing is, no relief in sight.

Tooves is a good idea.

It's just us fans are getting pounded so badly now. The win against Penrith was a mirage. We get a couple of them ever year as some kind of freakish reminder of how badly we are playing for the rest of it. Then the coaches celebrate that and say it shows results but alas we are back to being turkeys the following week. I mean I just roll my eyes after a win now.

We are not a competitive side any more. We are second or third rate for most of the season. They shouldn't be urinating on our backs and telling us it's raining. We have eaten more raw prawns than the American voter during election time.

Then we play like death warmed up in the back end against a rorters team sans origin players. A strong side and we can't beat rorters b grade. Watch us kill off gaiguys game a la Shannon Hegarty. He's come to us to retire. This is sheer rugby league misery.

Ps We should have thrown the kitchen sink in to retain Ben Teo, our biggest loss post-21.

Here you go Shane, Copy and paste big fella! If any the Souths LU forum wish to add or amend, you are very welcome. The point is to pretend to be professional so he doesn't sue us like most coaches do after they've been shafted. Enjoy.

Dear Michael.

Re: Your Retainer

On behalf of the club and myself, I wish to thank you for your efforts as Head Coach of the South Sydney Rabbitohs NRL team.

There is no doubt that we would not have won our 21st Premiership in the top tier competition without your excellent service. You are a historic figure in our organisation.

As you are aware, the side has failed to meet our Key Performance Indicator of at least a finals berth for several years.

As a result, I have the unenviable and most regrettable task of advising you that your services are no longer required following the expiration of your current contract.

Such a decision is provided for in appendix "F" of your employment contract, which was acknowledged by you by way of seperate signature and that of your manager. This was an essential term of your original appointment.

The board and Mr Crowe has asked me to extend their deepest personal gratitude to you for the amazing era that you have assisted in bringing about.

I hope you also appreciate that this has been an extraordinarily difficult letter for me to write and it is my wish and desire that our close personal friendship extends well into the future.

The transition arrangements and our expectations thereto will be sent to you by way of email within the next 14 days.

Given the sensitivity of the matter, we would ask you to refrain from making any public statement at this time ( please refer to clause 56(b)(i) of your employment contract). Please note that our legal rights will be exercised in the event of a leak sourced to you.

Existing coaches are invited to nominate their successor or be otherwise involved in that process (if they so choose) and your input in this regard would be well received and invaluable.

I have been approached by Marketing and advised there is a vacancy in that area if you fail to find immediate alternative employment in the short term. I am sure any application by you in that regard would be considered most favourably.

For any further enquiries, please do not hesitate to contact me on the usual number.

Up the Rabbitohs!

Yours faithfully
Shane Richardson

Welcome to the forums mate.

I agree that it may be time for a new coach however, you can see that Madge has adjusted his ways. We're not so structured anymore and Madge has obviously relaxed a little. The boy's no longer seem afraid to take a risk. It's a shame that just like last year, it's come a bit too late.

Yes, Friday was not structured enough. We have to find the right balance and that MUST be our style going forward. That'll allow some players to really thrive and we will be threatening again.
Your last point is spot on Callmack and there seems to be a 50/50 split on here about this!!!!!

The real test will be in our first 8-10 matches of 2018 to see if Madge stays on or has to go.

It's hopeless. Pay him out and rebuild. We will be lucky to get 5000 members next year, most of them companion animal memberships. The poor old burrow is like a rugby league anonymous meeting these days. They know they should give us up but they can't. They deserve better these loyal servants. We are an rugby league embarrassment at the moment. Ostriches with heads stuck firmly in the sand. Pick up the phone richo...

I for one did not renew this year, nor my wife, dogs, cat or goldfish.
The place smelt like a burning corpse to me before the season started.
I'm over watching games at ANZ,I'm over taking home games interstate,I'm over favouritism to clubs due to pay tv,I'm over the Crowe,Burgess soap opera,I'm over the amateur management of the NRL.
I'm over our club not listening to it's members!
Cheers Itsa

Wow. I understand your frustration but I hope you're not over supporting south Sydney. This club has experienced much worse times than what we are currently going through. All clubs go through bad periods. The only club that hasn't is the Melbourne storm and their time will come. I guarantee you in a few years the broncos, cowboys, sharks will all miss the finals. People need to put this into perspective. Most of the teams at the bottom have younger squads where most of the times at the top have older players who are getting closer and closer to retirement. Cooper Cronk, Billy slater, cameron smith, Paul Gallen, Luke Lewis, James Maloney, Jonathan Thurston, Matt Scott. In a few years all these players will be done which will impact their respective teams significantly just like ours has been impacted. Cronulla were only at the bottom of the ladder a few years ago..

Will always love this club and up until this year have been a member since 1981.
I'll tell you a story about when I have been the most disgusted by our management though.
Back in the mid 70's when our club nearly went bust, people like myself and my family got right behind trying to pull them out of the shit, the late great Don Lane was the main player in putting so much time and financial help towards our efforts .One of our ideas was that members could purchase a Gold or Silver plaque with our name on it that would always be displayed at our Chalmers street club,I had just turned 13 at that stage and had been saving for ages to get myself a new dragster push bike, instead I gave it all to my dad to get my name on a gold plaque on that wall.
My family and many over proud Souths supporters have plenty of coin for our cause.
Our names were still up on that wall until they trashed our old club and built the new premises and believe it or not all our plaques went out with the trash also.
That is something that will always eat at my loyalty.
Cheers itsa

What so sickens me is perpetual excuses that we are on the up or building something. We are not. We are nowhere near being competitive. We have spent the last three years getting worse and making far and away, the wrong decisions.

But the worst decision we are making is to keep bending over and thanking the powers that be.

I'm almost wishing Rusty had lost the takeover.

Membership of Souths In 2017 is as much fun as sitting next to Hillary Clinton on election night. The management of Souths must think we are dumb cretins or something. Village idiots of the nrl.

Enough is enough.

CEO or donut vendor richo, you decide...

The dogs win thanks to ill discipline and an Nuffie Newcastle. They did nil to impress. They are yesterday's men like us. But unlike us, their fans speak out. We just go quietly to our doom, if not we break into a skip or hop.

Another for our beloved richo:

Dear Mr Gagai,

Re: Induction Rabbitohs 2018

Thank you for joining our club.

We are sure you will be very comfortable receiving almost no clean ball, no air and absolutely no space.

It is good of you to volunteer to try to tackle two or three players at once during our usual overlap configuration.

Mind you, we are not expecting you to actually play rugby league during each game of your tenure with us. A couple of good games a season is more than enough for us.

From here on in you can forget representative commitments. You can party with Hollywood luminaries instead

We have decided to room you with injured players to inspire you.

We hope you enjoy a happy playing retirement with us as so many of current players can attest to.

Where you fail to play well, we will look to upgrade and extend your contract.

Up the Rabbitohs

Yours faithfully
Shane Richardson

I am not like you!!!!!!!

I always renew my membership every year and I'll continue to support my club in the best way possible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No matter how bad things turn in facets of our club I'm not a bandwagoner like some others are!!!!!!!

I'll be going to our home game v Canberra in 3 weeks and I know we will be 6 wins and 12 losses going into that!!!!!!

I know they'll only be 7,000 there but f**k the rest!!!!!!!! We don't want bandwagoners who fall away when we aren't having any success on the field!!!!!

You sign up with membership through thick and thin and that's what I do!!!!!!!!!

Better having a small burrow with diehards than half glassed fans.

Whilst I haven't agreed with some of what you've said since you've joined I respect you!!!!!

You'll learn that on here there are some that like sugar coating it and sticking with mediocrity seems to be all good to them!!!!!!

Enough don't say it as it is on here!!!

The top 4-5 teams have much better depth than we do!!!! FACT....

Very childish from you!!!!!!

I obviously understand loyalty and am thankful we have a team to support unlike you!!!!!!

I do give my honest thoughts though on what I reckon but not matter how dire things are or become I'll always renew every year!!!!
