My mate and i went to tiges on tuesday night

we rant into 3 interesting chaps...

first was benny elias, 2nd was one of the producers or sumthin 4 the footy show (ex balmain player) and third was the president of balmain tigers...

benny shouted james and i a few drinks, and we talked bout everytin from footy, where we live, wat we do and polotics... they are all top people...

beleive it or not, they occasionally browse these forums, and laugh at the so called "experts"

you all may be interested to know that we only made a profit off three games this year, and they were the 3 record breaking crowds at leichhardt... we made about $1000 per game...

i was shocked, asked how telstra can afford 70 000, they said simply corporate seating, we dont have any...

i asked why we dont permenantly move if we loose money, they said, they are our homes, we will never desert them... but we had to look at our future especially with pokie tax...

telstra dome is just a thought at this stage...

they have had professionals come throught leichhardt to give quotes, minimum $3 million needs to be spent...

they also plan to play the last home game at leichhardt and campbelltown each year in traditional strips...

but lets hope everyone stops talkin bout 1 home ground instead of 6, the only reason why we have 6 is becasue the club is doing its best with availiable money to keep fans happy, im sure some games at leichhardt is better than none...

also on those who beleive ryde eastwood leagues has money, balmain ceo says they have less than tigers, and also said the two biggest drawers of money in clubs in the inner west are casino, and wests ashfield...

also, bennys first choice coach was craig bellamy, but craig rejected... he also rates benji and bronson as our biggest prospects, both are on 6 figure contracts, and benny wants their contracts extended now...

almost forgot

they all said terry lamb had no idea

he only ever saw a reserve game if it was the curtain raiser to a 1st grade game...

sheens gets to all games he can, and can tell you off the top of his head every player from 1sts to flegg on both sides who he thinks will and wont make it...

they also said langmak was miles infront of lamb... and interestingly they said that if we had sheens from start of 2000 we would b a super club now...

Its a miss conception Sincas, Balmain would have more valuable assets than Ryde Eastwood however as we all know Balmain are in debt and are struggling (unlike Ryde Eastwood who aren’t in debt and aren’t struggling) - to say they have more money can only be based on there assets not on the money that they generate let alone have in the bank (which the bank really owns anyway and has done for some time now )

Saying Balmain is more asset rich than Ryde Eastwood could be questioned as well though.
Ryde Eastwoods premises are quite large and include facilities such as their own gym. On top of the leagues club they also own a local bowling club and have invested heavily in property within the local area.
They own many houses and I think they currently rent these houses out, furthering their profitability.

Rents bring in $500,000 a year. They just doubled the size of the gym next to the indoor pool and spent $2 million rebuilding Eastwood Bowling club.

It depends how you look at it I think....

Balmain own a considerable amount of land in the Balmain area - not including the land their leagues club is built on.

The problem with that is it doesn't bring in a great deal of income for the club so it doesn't mean much unless we sell it, not a great option until they come up with somewhere else to invest it.

Ryde-Eastwoods investments actually bring in income - anyone who doubts the fact that they are a MUCH richer club than Balmain is kidding themselves.

ryde eatswood can stand on their own 2 feet but they have to help out big brother in time of need

also if balmain do own houses especially a few on 1 block why donjt they knock em down & build units or build another club
or if that doesnt work buy a pub in balmain the club wouldnt have a problem getting an other liquor licence
