Is the Walker Bros coaching duo still a thing? Feels like along time since they were talked about.
Went quiet after winning the QRL trophy, lost most of their talent and looks like Ipswich kinda floated in and out of the finals since?
Whenever I hear people bring up the Walker brothers I wonder if they've actually seen any of those games...I watched maybe half a dozen in their premiership year (2015?) and it was shit boring... gets sold as an entertaining attack, but I've never been more bored than watching players run sideways and throw inside ball after inside ball, moved across to the wing, then turn around and move it all the way back..
It only seems to get seriously offered for clubs who've tried and failed at everything, in a 'why not test that Walker brothers thing?'... I'd like to see someone try it just to see what happened as a curious spectator, but I hate to say that I fall in with the cynics.
As for coaching against it, it's 'predictably' unpredictable.. the ball carrier is coached to always pass to someone if they're in a better position, and as the attack loses its structure, that person becomes very easy to spot for a good defence. I feel like mayybeee, it would get a bottom team into contention for the eight with some wins against the middling teams, but Roosters/Storm/etc would kill 'em
