The Walkers

Went quiet after winning the QRL trophy, lost most of their talent and looks like Ipswich kinda floated in and out of the finals since?

Whenever I hear people bring up the Walker brothers I wonder if they've actually seen any of those games...I watched maybe half a dozen in their premiership year (2015?) and it was shit boring... gets sold as an entertaining attack, but I've never been more bored than watching players run sideways and throw inside ball after inside ball, moved across to the wing, then turn around and move it all the way back..

It only seems to get seriously offered for clubs who've tried and failed at everything, in a 'why not test that Walker brothers thing?'... I'd like to see someone try it just to see what happened as a curious spectator, but I hate to say that I fall in with the cynics.

As for coaching against it, it's 'predictably' unpredictable.. the ball carrier is coached to always pass to someone if they're in a better position, and as the attack loses its structure, that person becomes very easy to spot for a good defence. I feel like mayybeee, it would get a bottom team into contention for the eight with some wins against the middling teams, but Roosters/Storm/etc would kill 'em

Cheers ghoti. I'd only read the hype myself so good to hear from someone who watched it and can remember it. 5 years is a long time to dine out on a QRL trophy.

I'd rather we did. What is there to lose? Seemingly obvious Morris is not the next Bellamy.

Fair bit to lose actually. We already have fair weather fans as it is. It could be an absolute failure and we'll be Spooners. Sure we're not Top 4 material now but we're far from Spooners.

And if you want to see us scoring lots of tries and no longer grinding out teams, well we're doing that now. Doesn't look to crash hot does it.

Defence wins comps even with the sped up game.

Yep. One thrashing doesn't mean all is lost and it's time for wild experiments. If anything we gotta wind it back to what works.

Seems like years ago they were talked up, you'd think a club would have taken a punt on them by now if they were actually any good.
