Part Five (final):

Just before I left, the hands-on-hips pretty much sums it up. We'd lost and we looked lost.

I've never left a Warriors game early, until yesterday. I had one last look back at this great ground, a personal favourite of mine. This picture doesn't tell the full story though, as I could hear the home fans cheering another try. It's not a nice feeling, ending the season like this.

One thing me and another sheepish, long-time, Warriors fan said to each other upon slinking away was, 'hopeless!'

I'm not sure where he was going but I had a long journey home to the Blue Mountains. I'll be back in Sydney for a NSW Cup semi-final this year though, I hope. For the past few years they've always been my favourite Warriors side, so another season is far from over.

As for first grade? Well, come hell or lawyers, there's always next year!

Thanks for the series Blair.
Yeah, I miss the old days too.
Sadly the game is broken and will never be the same again.

Cheers, I'll do it again, at a NSW Cup semi if we make it. In many ways I think that will actually be better, as they're real intimate experiences those games.

I'm careful not to get overly sentimental about things but, when you're at a venue, and you remember seeing Richard Hadlee, Lance Cairns, Geoff Howarth, Glenn Turner, et al, playing there, oh, along with Kevin Tamati, Kurt Sorenson, Olsen Filipaina, Mark Graham, et al, then it sinks in. You've been around the block a few times, that's for sure.

What I do love about the SCG is that it's the same piece of turf. No amount of redevelopment can ever change that.
