Owning a ground smeg as you know, strengthens a balance sheet but does f**k all for an entity's profitability (unless of course there were getting a stack of revenue from non club activities like rock concerts etc - which they ain't).

Cronulla are however building some flats near the swamp (should be aromatic round low tide) to generate cash flow. It's a bit like selling qantas or telstra to balance the budget. You can't keep selling the silver to pay for the groceries. One would guess cronulla are one of the clubs under pressure long term

Long term the Sharks are screwed financially IMHO. The demographic of the Shire is not conjucive to a football side and Leagues club turning a consistent profit.

The fact they own the ground is the only reason their meagher little club is able to survive on one Leagues club even through the dire times of Rogers running the joint

Not next year they won't be
The stadium has no cash .. and from 09 on no naming rights sponsor
serves them right for making it a sh!t viewing ground for Sydney's three biggest football codes. duh!

Probably .. but they have land relatively close to water that (when built upwards) will give property buyers city views across botany bay and probably views out to sea as well. How long they can keep selling is anyone's guess. They'll go for plenty. Tie that in with a sympathetic federal treasurer and they'll be around a few years yet

I disagree that the area isn't conducive to producing juniors. It is a predominantly anglo saxon area where a lot of kids play league, not to mention they have the nursery of Endeavour Sports high which poaches kids from everywhere

Manly, Penrith, Parramatta, St George all play out of traditional home grounds and don't whore half their home games to homebush or christchurch or gosford. The reality is we are trying to make a finals series against the likes of Brisbane, Parra, Manly etc all of whom have 12 (or 11) proper home games to amass enough points to make a dent. We don't. This short sighted, grab the money and run philosophy will have us up the spout shortly.

Win football games and balance sheets, P&Ls, sponsorships etc all correct themselves as a result

Makes no diff....WTs get paid if the attendance is 00,003.

It makes a point to the club that the supporters dont want it and the if no one goes then there is no profits to be had for the stadium

Telstra Average (2005-2007) - 19,686
Telstra Average (2007) - 18,358

I'd like to get back to 6-6 split between CS/LO but you cannot deny the comfort, convenience, corporate facilities and easy access for families that Telstra Stadium offers.

Wish WT had a friend in parliament like other clubs.

As for telstra being family friendly, it is anything but. All seater stadiums are not family friendly. A hill where kiddies can sit, run round pre game etc is far more family friendly than an all seat concrete jungle.

I'm guessing Con you don't have kids ?

actually I have to agree, I don't find Telstra family friendly... I know footy is costly at all grounds but to take the family to Telstra for a game always costs me a hell of a lot more than other grounds so I prefer to not bring the kids. In fact... this season Ive barely taken the family to many games at all... How anyone can afford it with a large family is beyond me, it can't be good for the future of the game.. Im trying to keep my kids interested in league but its hard if I havent got the funds to take them to games.
Most of the kids dont really like footy, they only want to go because of the atmosphere and the fun to have a run on the hill etc and meet the stars, but when I took them last year they started to enjoy the game too as they were there so much...however this year their interest have wavered.....the next generation could well be the plasma TV kind as mentioned in another thread.

Wow you all sounds pretty jaded to me hahaha

Personally there is nothing i look forward to more during the weekend the rockin up and watching my team go around. I love the atmosphere, i love the footy, i have no problem with the announcer or watching bloody replys or truck adds or any of that crap and bring on the sexy cheerleaders :)

Its a chance for me and my father (we both season ticket holders) to spend some time together, watch the greatest game of all and support our club wether they win or loose. Its all about loyalty to me, i love being part of the club.

We are both Magpie supporters till the joint venute and now proudly Wests Tigers fans !

Telstra is a sh*thole. It ain't family friendly. There is car parking but I really don't have the stomach to wait an hour to wait ina car park trying to get out whilst letting in some parra/easts/canterbury etc fan into the queue to get out. What is more family friendly is being able to walk to a ground or park on a street nearby, sit or stand on a grass hill where kids can run round (until it fills up say 1/2 an hour before the main game kicks off) and then being able to get out quickly.

I don't need some mulleted f**kwit announcer telling me to stand up or chant tigers and burting my f**king eardrums while he does it. We'll stand when we want, chant when we want etc not when some pink shirt wearing mulleted f**kwit tells us to. As for the replays, when you look up the screen to watch a crucial incident in the game and you see and ad for an excavator, it shows how f**ked the whole Telstra experience is.

As for cheerleaders if I wanna watch women dance i'll go to Hugo's or Peppermint or Sapphire or Men's Gallery. I'm there to watch football not watch 15 bints dance and be objectified by blokes to stupid to know any of them would roll for a line of tickle

You cant be serious about the truck ads on replays!!! Thats now such a pet hate of mine that any ad that pops up during a replay I will refuse to use that product!

It's funny how you spend all this time typing away your vitriolic sh*te about the club you supposedly support and then giggle like a schoolgirl when you have some "inside goss" from the club to share as if you have some kind of symbiotic relationship with them.

You're truly a dimwit.
