The Worst Ben....

Watching the big bash, it struck me that every Ben to ever play for Australia has essentially been a terrible cricketer, with the notable exception of Ben "In The Middle of our Street" Hilfenhaus, whose nickname is apt both because of his surname and his cricketing ability.

So, who is the worst?

Is it Ben McDermott, the only man to be run out more times than he's ever batted?
Ben Cutting, a bowler so unthreatening that he was openly picked for his batting ability?
Maybe Ben Laughlin, a seam bowler slower than any spinner, but lacking the ability to turn a handle?
Or, finally, Ben Rohrer, a one hit wonder who never hit a ball off the square in his whole career?

Ben Rohrer in a canter. The other blokes have done some decent things at domestic level. Rohrer was NSW’s shittest player for almost 10 years.

I forgot Ben Plodrer played for Australia. Ben Plodting at one point was talked as the next big thing. Big thing at what I’m not sure.

But my favourite is Craig McDermott. At least, I’m sure that’s who the selectors thought they’d picked. I’m not sure how he made it. I remember a dude getting a gig in a t20 v us once who got a last second call up because he was only half tanked in the crowd (Pummelhisback I think, he actually played well for a dude seeing three balls), but McDermott getting picked because they thought it was Craig is a ripping and a tearing story.
