Iceland is meant to be amazing in summer, its become a bit of an in place to go and apparently crowds at all the main touristy parts are insane in summer. The weather just killed me in winter. Its the windiest habited country in the world so it was moreso that then the cold. We did a 3 day tour which had some cool parts like Diamond Beach, Glacier Lagoon and Blue Ice Cave. The Blue Lagoon is pretty cool aswell. We wanted to do a helicopter tour of some of volcanic parts but they were sold out. Ive done it so not enticed to go back.

My wife has family in Alesund Norway which we spent Xmas in 2017 which was incredible. Doing it with the kids in 2027 and looking to head towards Lofoten aswell.
I've never gone to Europe in summer because of the crowds, though I'd love to laze about on the Med in summer at least once.

I loved both Iceland and Finland, was there in November 2019. Not peak winter but it was pretty cold right up Northern Finland, 16 below every day. Northern lights were fantastic. Weather in Iceland wasn't too bad when I was there, hovering around 2. Wasn't windy though so that helped.

Iceland is certainly expensive though, Finland not so much. Both have great scenery. I actually really liked Helsinki as a city. Kept jumping on the trams and just going to random places with no plan, good fun.

Does Col Jones still live there? Probably rides an old Honda CB 750?
I’m not sure, but it sounds spot on.

As you and @Vic Mackey would know, living in the country is a wonderful experience.

I only came back to the big smoke for family reasons. Still got a bunch of friends from those days. I was the happiest in my life out there.

Ex workmate is in London, living in a shoebox. He’ll be back, they all come home eventually.
