Australia and WA all-rounder Mitchell Marsh out for six months with stress injury in lower back..

By staff writers FOX SPORTS February 17, 2012 3:09PM

Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out of cricket for months, and will miss the remainder of the triangular series featuring India and Sri Lanka, with a bone stress injury in his lower back.

He has also been ruled out of contention for a place in the tour party to play West Indies in the Caribbean.

"Mitch complained of quite significant lower-back pain during (Thursday's) training session at the SCG," Cricket Australia physiotherapist Alex Kountouris said.

"After assessing him and considering his age, we organised scans in Sydney ... that have confirmed our suspicions of a lower-back bone stress injury.

"He will have further scans tomorrow in Melbourne to determine the extent of the injury, which will help outline the period of rest required from cricket.

"We expect that he will not play as a bowler for the remainder of this season but will be in a position to provide further information once we have the results of tomorrow’s scans."

The national selection panel will announce in due course whether a replacement player is required for the Brisbane ODI to be played on Sunday.

Is the stress fracture from consistently having to bear the incredible burden of being related to Shaun Darsh?

Hopefully he can still bat as it's about time he got his batting back on track.
Also means Christian won't be worrying about being rotated.

Young all-rounder Mitchell Marsh sent home from Centre of Excellence after being unfit to train..

AAP July 07, 2012 4:20PM

West Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has been sent home from the Centre of Excellence in Brisbane for disciplinary reasons.

A Cricket Australia statement said the 20-year-old was told to head back to Perth after being unfit to train on Saturday after a night out.

"While the incident in isolation was not serious, he was already on a final warning," said the CA press release.

"As such, it was decided he should be sent home to Perth."

Marsh re-signed with Western Australia on Wednesday despite reports he was looking to move interstate because he was unhappy with the Warriors' initial contract offer.

The powerful middle-order batsman and medium-pacer has already represented Australia in three Twenty20 internationals and one one-dayer.

His played a big part in lifting the Perth Scorchers to the final of the Big Bash League last season, but a stress injury to his back in February this year meant he missed the rest of the domestic season.

What a moronic thread. I'm surprised you haven't started one calling Cummins soft. Has he ever gone more than one game without breaking down?

Amazing to think that he got to play 7 test matches. He clearly must've had some dirt on one of the selectors to have played that many tests

Although he averages a crappy 27.36, that average is CLEARLY distorted because if you take out his first two innings of 141 and 81 vs Sri Lanka , what is his average? 8.78:lol: Furthermore, to prove how much of a joke it was that the selectors kept him for all 4 tests vs India batting at #3, what was his average in that test series? Wait for it......2.83:lol::lol::lol::lol:
